[?]Can cow probiotics save the world?

Methane contributes to over 50% of human caused rapid climate change yet governments are not even dicussing actions to reduce these emmisions! Here's a simple, cheap solution that could radically help this situation. Put the genes for anaerobic Methanotrophs into some bacteria naturally occurring in a cows a gut and we will have solved a big piece of the problem! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methanotroph (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methanotroph)

Check out these stats on CH4: http://www.cmu.edu/homepage/environment/2009/winter/wheres-the-beef.shtml (http://www.cmu.edu/homepage/environment/2009/winter/wheres-the-beef.shtml) This idea comes from analyzing and brainstorming the rapid climate change issue with some of my students here at Catlayst High School.  If the world saw some high school students problem solving like this maybe the politicians would finally do something. http://www.catalysths.org (http://www.catalysths.org)
