I admit that I am a nose picker, though I never eat my booger. Yes, people kept complaining about it, but one day, when I was in college, I saw one of my close friends had a booger in his nose and we could see it from the outside. I then told him "Taichou (yes, I was a weaboo), I can see your booger". Soon he picked his nose and picked it out. I asked "Have you never pick your nose?". He answered "Never". Ever since then, I kept picking nose in public. For me it's better for people to be disgusted out by me cleaning my nose than disgusted out by seeing a piled booger in my nose. Also, for the latter option, I myself feel uneasy whenever there's a sufficient dirt in my nose.

I understand that the sinuses alternate about every 60-90 minutes or so.  One swells and engulfs, while the other shrinks and drains.  Left and right, back and forth all the time.

I remember when my son was about 6 years old, and I tried to convince him that eating boogies was bad by googling it. He learned to read early on, and caught on quick. Unfortunately, every article that we came across had nothing bad to say about eating boogies, even published medical sites. Back then I didn't believe that some people eat their own boogies. Until one day, I was tutoring math to a 6th grader student when her 1st grader sister picked her nose and then ate her booger. Surprised, I spontaneously asked "Did you just eat your booger?". Her brother (the one I was tutoring) casually said "I did that when I was her age, too".

I love a pick as much as the next guy.

But...  I also like to clean myself, and the one area I worry about is under the nails.  I mean how can you possibly clean this area properly?  Use a nail brush, then the nail brush gets dirty doesn't it.

I think loads of transmissable diseases can easily find their way into our bodies through the nose.  As there must be a low barrier to entry there (or am I mistaken thinking that?).

I'd be interested to know if worms and other nasties can find their way in like this.

Stories about people ending up dead after using a neti pot, or through some super bug in the shower are a put off!
