General Science / How public opinion holds back scientific progress?
« on: 23/01/2022 09:14:50 »
Public opinion always remains as a factor in a scientific research development (especially those that concerns a large population and affects society). How do people influence in the development of the field of science?

Also your opinion on human experimentation?

Technology / Re: Do operating system updates require new computers?
« on: 23/01/2022 08:51:43 »
Yes. When a new operating system is released with more advancements than the previous, it obviously consume more RAM and needs a good processor than before to make it work faster and smoothly. And that's why company releases new requirements for such upgrades. If you try to use an advanced OS with slower processor and less RAM that it is designed for, then it will definitely make the device malfunction and works very slow.
I mean, Windows 10 works faster than windows 11 in such cases.

Note: Windows 11 is an optional upgrade only.
Anyway Microsoft will support windows 10 for only few more years. If you don't have a PC meeting new requirements, then you can wait and use windows 10 in my opinion.

Question of the Week / Re: QotW - 21.10.9 - Would a dead body in space decompose?

A dead body will definitely decompose in space. Even though there is no bacteria or any micro organisms present in space, a human body carries bacteria. So gut bacteria will eat your body from inside. It takes a long time though.
No that won't happen.  Due to the lack of moisture, lack of air and the extremely low temperatures there will be no bacteria alive.

Recent researches shows that bacteria from earth can survive in space for few years if they remain in clusters.

But 'Bacterial growth' is not possible in space i guess. And degradation happens only by bacterial growth. So like you said, human body to decompose that way is not possible.

But before you completely decompose that way, your body has high chances of burning in space by sun or stars or any other ways like falling into an atmospheric region where your speed burns you. The time of decomposition is random though.

Question of the Week / Re: QotW - 21.11.08 - Does space traffic control exist?
« on: 22/01/2022 08:04:43 »
Traffic control is nearly impossible in my opinion. When you try to control the objects in space to maintain it in an orderly manner so that it can prevent collision in space, it need more energy than ever.

It is true that many collision incidents may occur. Recently we heard that Russian space debris came in near collision with a working Chinese satellite.

But to implement space traffic control, and to maintain safety -> coordination among countries, excess use of energy and regulating the present satellites have to takes place, which makes it a definitely impossible thing to occur.
