Title: aspartame becomes formaldehyde!
Post by: justbabychubhaha on 21/05/2005 19:54:57
A dear science junky friend of mine has recently informed me that aspartame becomes formaldehyde when it reaches 86 degrees, and stores in the fat cells, and can not be eliminated from the body... creepy!  <i'm off of diet sodas and anything with aspartame now, and tried the coke c2, and increased water>.  He also told me that he read that it causes a lot of headaches, so I tested that.  I chewed some sugar-free gum, 2 hours after I ate, and I don't think it was psycho-sematic, but I did develop a terrible headache, and I was having a lot of headaches when I was drinking the diet sodas (I was drinking A LOT of diet sodas).  I noticed that the headaches were gone when I cut out aspartame.  He informed me that the article was full of information of how the FDA's pockets are being filled with the sellers of these products, which is why there is so very much of it around.  I guess that isn't surprising, though.  Obviously, we need to think for ourselves, instead of completely relying on our government to protect our well-being.

i am looking for the facts regarding aspartame remaining in the body, specifically the fat cells.
check this out... http://www.mercola.com/2000/nov/26/aspartame.htm
that is the link, here is the article:

Researcher Believes Aspartame Promotes Hypersensitivity Syndrome

By Don Harkins
From the November 2000 Idaho Observer

Most people are by now aware that the artificial sweetener aspartame becomes formaldehyde, a dangerous toxin for which neither the Food and Drug Administration nor the Environmental Protection Agency has identified a safe level of ingestion for humans. James Bowen, M.D., a physician who has dedicated a tremendous amount of time and resources to the study of aspartame, has identified the neurotoxin to be a catalyst for polychemical hypersensitivity syndrome (PCS).

PCS is a condition that effects increasing numbers of people who experience varying degrees of allergic reactions to chemical exposure.

According to Dr. Bowen, “The Persion Gulf Syndrome is largely PCS from the massive NutraSweet [aspartame] exposure experienced by our men in combat units in the Persian Gulf.”

The Pentagon has repeatedly denied such allegations since they claim that PCS does not exist. The fact that nothing in orthodox medicine seems to help soldiers stricken with Gulf War Illness (GWI) is an indication to orthodox doctors that GWI symptoms are psychosomatic.

“This illustrates the highly significant feature of aspartame poisoning; that it is an extreme hypersensitization agent which is highly reactive with other chemicals -- especially toxic ones like the nerve gas and nitrogen mustard gas to which our troops were exposed in the gulf when our government tried to destroy the stockpiles of these gases they had previously supplied to Saddam Hussein. This is a very poignant part of the NutraSweet issue because those who had problems with NutraSweet will now experience recurrences of those same problems when exposed to even the most minute doses of various toxic agents,” explained Dr. Bowen.

Dr. Bowen's findings are supported by government studies regarding formaldehyde sensitivity that were conducted many years ago. It was found then that, once a person becomes hypersensitive to the toxin, he can experience a violent physical reaction to a formaldehyde exposure of as little as one billionth of a gram.

If Dr. Bowen's thesis is correct, the millions of Americans who habitually drink sodas and eat foods artificially sweetened with aspartame are not only vulnerable to the entire menu of 92 aspartame-related complications which range from impotence, hair loss, obesity and chronic irritability to death, they are leaving themselves open to a lifetime of multiple chemical sensitivity.

“The reason I feel it's so important to publish this information is that those who have been victimized by aspartame really don't have a good shot at enjoying the health they had before unless they recognize the problem and know how to deal with it,” Dr. Bowen concluded.

The saddest joke on the American consumer is that aspartame-sweetened sodas are marketed as “diet” soft drinks. The truth is that aspartame suppresses the production of serotonin, which makes them crave carbohydrates which, in turn, causes them to gain weight.

Dr. Mercola's Comment:

Nutrasweet is not your friend. This is article is an excellent reminder that you should NOT be consuming any of this product due to its profound negative effects on health. If you are not aware of this please read the first link below as it is a book on Nutrasweet that is about 150 pages long.

Nutrasweet's patent has expired so you are starting to see its clones which are likely to be every bit as bad. I am in the process of preparing an article on sucralose (Splenda), which should be published soon, but in the meantime it should also be avoided.

Remember that your body does not do well with regular sugar, let alone synthetic sugar substitutes. About 70 percent of the population suffers from an excess of insulin (excess weight, high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol). Nearly all of these people would benefit from avoiding ANY sweeteners, and this includes sucralose, until their signs of excess insulin are resolved.

C14H18N2O5 - ASPARTAME CHEMICAL FORMULA ( TEST SUBJECT)
C8H17N     - HEMLOCK CHEMICAL FORMULA (poisons)
C10H14N2   - NICOTINE CHEMICAL FORMULA (poisons)

NOW LETS DO WHAT COMPUTERS AND IDIOTS CANT DO..
LETS IDENTIFY A PATTERN
DO YOU SEE 3 ELEMENTS IN THOSE 2 Poisons that all
match up with the aspartame chemical formula
do you also notice that certain order of how they
are alligned.
now out of theese you can identify that
--------------------------------> keep scrolling down

hemlock obviously kills you quickly notice the lower
concentration of those 3 elements, where as nicotine kills
you slowly and causes alot more pain and damage. also
take into account that it has a longer chain and it has
a higher concentration of those 3 elements now my friends
please identify the pattern if you cant ---->scroll down

take into consideration that aspartame has a longer chain
and a much higher concentration of C N and H the o 5 does
not matter all that much as it just slows the process
further ,, so i have come to the conclusion
(and i hope youve done the same) that aspartame
kills you much more slowly and that it is in fact a poison
a weak poison you may say? yes but tell me how much of it
have you got inside of you,  killing you slowly?
its so succesful because NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT IT
OR BECAUSE TOTAL IDIOTS ARE PREECHING ITS A HOAX
WELL I'D LOVE TO SEE THEM MAKE A REPORT SHOWING ALL THE
NECESSARY INFORMATIONS.

now please dont bother saying that oh you need to compare
alot more poisons, and that oh it wont work cuz
its in a different arrangement or it has a different
concentration
because any sane person can quite clearly see the potential
of aspartame to being a poison not just that
they should have also realised that the effects of it
are simmilar to nicotine but nicotine is faster in terms
of killing someone its also addictive
-could this mean aspartame is addictive?
-have you ever had a chewing gum and wanted another peice?
-how often did you eat chewing gum or drink dialute?
SO... LISTEN UP! aspartame is a poison no its not a
gene selecting malicious chemical
but it can cause harm to the human body.
more extensive reaserach must be carried out on this topic
before we can confirm 100% that it is not a gene selecting
malicious chemical.

and just for show ill give you another chemical formula
C15 H21 N5 O7 S -Cylindrospermopsin (deadly poison- causes
shelfish poisoning etc if shellfish eat it)
Title: Re: aspartame becomes formaldehyde! (update)
Post by: Astara on 16/04/2013 11:33:00
Since I stumbled onto this article via a search engine (goog), I thought it would be good to insert an update.  The "best" (IMO) summary of research regarding aspartame claims is listed on snopes.com.  Key points addressed -- the 2nd point regards the claim that aspartame ingestion results in the production of methanol, formaldehyde and formate: These claims are factual.  ... BUT -- other food items have higher doses and are not considered harmful -- the body breaks down the amounts in aspartame *naturally*.  Caveat -- drinking 25 liters or more of diet soda in 1 sitting is typical of an amount needed to exceed safety limits set for humans.  It doesn't build up in the body over time.

The next was it having neurotoxic effects.  This has a grain of truth in it if you are in a small subpopulation who have a history of adverse effects from certain chemicals -- it's like sugar can be a deadly poison over time if you are a diabetic and can't make insulin -- BUT, most people are not diabetic.  Most of those who are, find out and treat it.  The percentage of those who are sensitive to the chemical in aspartame is much lower than those who are diabetic.

The only issue I've experienced myself -- and it can make it icky -- is that it starts to break down at temps near 90F.   If it is stored at such temps -- like rancid oil's on a shelf, the product TASTES bad -- it's no more poisonous than rancid oil and you are no more likely to consume it that rancid oil (i.e. if it is .0001% broken down, you might not notice it and it isn't going to hurt you anyway).  If it is 90% broken down it would taste like drinking a bad tasting chemical (I've thrown out sodas in the summer that were shipped in uninsulated trucks through summer heat waves -- not in the past 5 years or more, but I did have some that were bad).

So it goes 'bad'... like many other products if you let it break down (no cooking with it, for example!).  That doesn't make it a poison though....

There's more on snopes and that's fairly easy to check out -- see that article for more details.  I just thought I'd throw this in so there'd be some factual response to the post for those finding it in a search engine.

FWIW -- my 80+ year old father got sent one of the various chain letters about it, so I went to do some research... definitely can't believe those letters *sent* to you, as someone is 'benefiting' by spreading what was sent (i.e. reasons to not be objective).
