Hi,

The Pioneer anomaly
THIS is a tale of two spacecraft. Pioneer 10 was launched in 1972; Pioneer 11 a year later. By now both craft should be drifting off into deep space with no one watching. However, their trajectories have proved far too fascinating to ignore.

That's because something has been pulling - or pushing - on them, causing them to speed up. The resulting acceleration is tiny, less than a nanometre per second per second. That's equivalent to just one ten-billionth of the gravity at Earth's surface, but it is enough to have shifted Pioneer 10 some 400,000 kilometres off track. NASA lost touch with Pioneer 11 in 1995, but up to that point it was experiencing exactly the same deviation as its sister probe. So what is causing it?

The error is extrememy tiny and could be due to so many things including nearby black dwarf stars or black holes.  It will not be resolved until we launch a whole array of gravitational field probes way outside the solar system.

Is the above suggeting Newtons "Law of Universe Gravity" is flawed in some way?, and so it might be, Newton was mortal like the rest of us, but with considerable more brain matter than I have in my head.

I think whatever explains the Pioneer 10 anomaly will all so explain the rotation curve of galaxies anomaly. The possibility that one of our fundamental laws is not the same in all parts of the Universe, F = ma comes to mind.

Since this was a post from 2008 that's been unearthed, do any of the posters mind if I split off the "new theory" stuff (ZHUYH's posts) into New Theories so that if anyone reads this post now, they won't be confused?

According to my Wikkipedia,  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pioneer_anomaly) they are not moving faster.

All spacecraft are dragged by Einstein’s predicted quantum aether.  What do you know of relative viscosity?  Hubble by the speed of light constant sounds about right to me.
