I don't believe that all IQ tests are time based, but can't just put together a test assume it will test anything in particular. How did they validate the IQ test?
Terms like 'genius', 'superior intelligence', 'dullness' is meaningless. What is the population mean, and the standard deviation – those are the issues that matter – and those number are conspicuously absent.
There is also no such thing as a 'classic IQ test' – there are different tests that have been validated against the general population, but there is no evidence that this is one of them. The fact that it has been created by PhD's is meaningless – there are an awful lot of PhD's out there (some of them can even be bought over the Internet).

DUDE, I SCORED 111 and I was trying hard!! No guessing!! took me forever! That must mean I have a brain and there should be no excuses whatsoever for me to not get it, so what gives !! My Intellectual type is word warrior!! WOO-WHOOOO! What do you know about that! I am not paying them 12.00 to tell me how dumb or smart I am... I know where I am in the pecking order!! WOW - I am in the presence of greatness!!! My score was 123. I'm not so sure 'bout them thare reesults. It said I scored in the 80th percentile in math. I don't believe that at all, I can only multiply with a calculator.

I stopped believing in those tests also, reasons:
I took 5 different tests, all PhD certified, 2 of them with time limit, 3 without
My scores:
No time limit:
152 : Genius
129 : Highly Intelligent
122 : Highly Intelligent
With time limit:
147: Genius
122 : Highly Intelligent
All different tests, yet, you can see variation.
Screw IQ tests! (Yet, Very proud of the results :P)

I'd be very interested in a sociological study of the motivation of those who take aptitude or IQ tests, voluntarily as opposed to qualifying for a job or school.
In my own case I wasn't doing well with the standard measures provided by traditional schooling. Given an opportunity to write a battery of SATs, I jumped at it. I did very well and was accepted to university on the strength of the results. Despite the conventional wisdom of the day, I did prepare for them, apparently successfully.

That was the first one I had ever taken and I did it for the fun of it! went back to school at 41 years old and am taking a couple clasees at a time and working full time.. I guess I was curious about what was in one Kind of!

I took many when I was younger....but like Georgie, I don't agree with the results...Thanks Neilsy...my results may have been 1.26??? LOL I used to do most of the test and get bored and skim through the last 2 to 4 pages as I didn't want to waste my time as I was missing out on playing outside with friends while stuck in room with people staring at me....while taking tests...not sure if they thought I was cheating or what...LOL Maybe just a good guesser???

I never liked tests as a kid I froze on them and they took me forever because I really tried to do well! So now I really think I am on the fence as far as tests go.. They make me curious!

Hello Karen! Ah yes, I enjoyed doing the test, but I have to say that I had already done many of that kind, so I was in advantage with respect to who hadn't made any. Anyway, it took 40 minutes to me for that test.
However, just to express my opinion about the limits of these tests, I know for example women who couldn't score very much in those tests, but who are able to manage their (much more "intelligent") husbands as they want. How do we measure intelligence in that case?

Good Question!LOL They manage them unfairly it sounds! I Guess manipulation could be mistaken for intelligence rather then lack of the ability to talk or reason without witholding affection! Of coarse that depends on weather you were referring to a women holding affection over her husbands head to keep him in line... Frankly I find that really manipulative and quite nasty...

The trouble is that you should not confuse IQ, which is a very narrow and specific measure that can be precisely measured but poorly understood, and intelligence, which we have no ability to measure.
One thing that is certain is that what most people regard as intelligence is not a one dimensional thing that may be denoted by a single number, nor is it a thing that people can say that A has more intelligence than B, because the nature of intelligence that A and B have may not be directly comparable.
Einstein is considered to have been a very intelligent guy, but he made some very stupid judgements. My own experience with many clever people is that few can show such extreme stupidity as those who can apply the greatest intelect to their stupidity.

I filled the test out completely random and got an 84. I noticed that everyone seems to have very high scores, which is a statistical oddity. Even my 84 is a little higher than it should be. Anyways not to dissapoint anyone who really likes their score, but they probably inflate them so you are more likely to send them money, to find out just how much of a genius you really are.
And I agree with george, people can not measure intelligence. Einstein was such a genius because he thought differently than other people. Almost anybody could figure out these problems, especially with no time limit.

For fun I scored a 129, I've never taken a real IQ test, is there any point?

I was IQ tested over my spring break because I am requesting SAT compensations, and sadly my IQ is 150 and so I didn't qualify for very many compensations. But I agree that this test is not accurate. And I'm not being cocky, I'm being mentally selfish :P

IQ tests are an unusualy well doccumented technique. Of course, the full testing takes a longer time (over several days) than most people will put up with as part of an online test. The mean score of the population is 100 and, IIRC the standard deviation is 12 (or 13).
My score of 131 gives a z value of 2.58 so I'm 2.58 standard deviations above the mean which puts me in the top 99.5% of the population.
Great, now I know that if I meet someone in the street I have a better than 200 to 1 chance of being better at IQ tests than them.

I found an interesting iq test that is a bit different than others: http://www.quickiqtest.net/ but the result is charged 2.9 dollars. I got 16 points which is not bad..

You are welcome to pay $2.9 for an online IQ test, but I suspect few others would (the free ones are of dubious value, but at least they are free).
