Title: Do we know enough about COVID-19 to make it safe to get on a plane?
Post by: nudephil on 02/07/2020 15:48:35
Allison sent us this:

Do we know enough about COVID-19 to make it safe to get on a plane? It feels like we have to guess or take pot luck as all the reports are focused on the economic, rather than facts about virus transmission in air travel. It's very hard to make an educated decision...

Can anyone hep?

Worth noting that private flight in small aircraft is currently limited to "household only" (which annoyingly excludes my business partners and regular copilots)  or one pilot flying with an instructor/examiner both wearing a full face mask goggles and gloves throughout the flight, after which the pilot/examinee disinfects the aircraft. Admittedly we are closer together than you might hope in an airliner with alternate seating, but we are all subject to pretty close health scrutiny and know and trust each other well.

Not sure I'd want to get on any form of public transport along with the usual drunks and unwashed, never mind spending hours in "security" or the shopping mall. In my humble opinion, the best way to catch COVID would be to take a long flight in an airliner. Not that it matters much as I gather we Brits are banned as unclean from most destinations, thanks to President Cummings' idiocy.
