Title: When Stabbed or Shot With An Arrow, are you supposed to pull it out ?
Post by: neilep on 11/05/2008 07:34:57
Dearest Peeps,

On TV, when you see someone get stabbed or shot with an arrow they always pull it out .....is this the right thing to do ?.....I always thought you're supposed to leave it in but 9 times out of ten you see them pull it out.

This I must know at 7:34am on a Sunday Morning !

First aid teaches us to never pull the item out as it could cause a lot more damage with the tip as well as internal damage and heavier bleeding... I think thats still protocol in real situations..

Now most of the arrows I seen pulled out they pushed through first broke off the tip and then pulled it out! they usually rode away on a horse into a camp or into town slumped over the horse or dragging behind from falling off. LOL.... but those were generally the main characters who generally were taken in by beautiful women who nursed them back to health or some old dude long in the tooth out in the middle of nowhere... lets not forget old Doc!..LOL

Aaaaaaagh! You're supposed to scream. Then roll your eyes and die like in any decent western movie!
Leave the arrow there.  Removing it because of the poison? It's too late anyway.
You are just dying, it wouldn't make sense.

Yes that is just what I'd thought that if the arrow or knife is
pulled out of the flesh wound(s) that will tear/rip the skin's
injury and make it worse !!!

Leave that one to the doctors - EG our Doctor Beaver.

I must remember to leave it in........and whilst I await the ambulance I can water some plants too !

It's just that my 5 year old daughter was holding the above watering can in a threatening way and I thought i'd better check !!

Thanks  [;)]

Beaver is not a medical Doctor..That I know of, but he is a knowledgeable Beaver....I believe psychology working or specializing in addictions.... [;)] [:)]

But he seems to be well versed and educated in many subjects I think his skills there are just the tip of the iceberg..

In some countries, it is considered a great insult to put the face of your watch on the inside of your wrist. It sends the message "I wouldn't give you the time of the day."

When your watch face in in the inside of your wrist it is difficult for people to see it.

Interesting bit about the watch; which countries?
A long time ago I did a first aid course and they said you should leave it in the wound because it might be blocking bleeding and, for chest wounds, it is stopping air getting into the chest cavity.
Of course, in the long run it's better to remove the arrow because it makes it difficult to close the coffin.

In that case I have been creating readable dificulties for watch-face-look-uponers since I was 11..

....I could never wear it the ' proper ' way round now..........well...I could.....but I'd always be looking at my strap !!

I don't suppose China is one of those countries ?

Probably the ones where Neil gets an arrow in his back.

Most of the strange insults seem to centre around southern Italy.
