Rachel has written this question into the Naked Scientists.

"How can I add a small amount of gold to glass to create a beautiful colour like saphiret glass? They say it cannot be made anymore but if it was made 100 years ago it must be possible now."

By mixing melted Gold into Sapphire colored glass?

Or maybe skip the hard work & just buy it online?
