The movement of a condutive fluid (probably Iron) relative to the rtation of the earth in a layer immediatly above the earths solid core.

I am in favour off not interfering with evolution let it take its course, If the 'greens' had been around 65 million years ago we would still be knee deep in dinosaurs.

when  I was at school we were taught a rather simplified form of Newtonian physics that said that an object shot up moved in and parabolic path until it returned to earth.
This of course would be true if the earth was flat and of infinite extent but it is not!
The path taken is of course eliptical albeit that one of the foci is within the earth.
as the velocity is increased both foci are outside the earth and the object is in orbit
I have never been able to get anyone to admit the path taken is other than parabolic.

I always thought that all units could be defined in terms of LMT raised to various powers, nothing else is needed or exists

The idea of the equator being horizontal seems fairly logical as it more or less aligns with the earths orbit around the sun, but of course if you lived on Uranus it would be a different story.

It is well established that the earth early in its history was in collision with a mars sized object (Mars?) that lead to the creation of our moon, could this be the seed of the magnetic field?

When we speak of light (photons) travelling in a vacuum what we are in fact observing is photons travelling through the dark matter with which our galaxy in enveloped.
Has any attempt been made to measure the speed between galaxies away from the dark matter.
Not to mention the sea of quantum particles/anti-particles neutrinos, Gravitons, and the 2.7°K CBR that fills space
