Chris,
I finally just got a fast enough computer to listen to the actual show.  I listened to the latest one in the archives and I hear you say something about the show going until march.  does this mean that the show is ending??!!  or do you guys go by seasons and you meant that this current season is coming to a close??!!
Please tell me that as soon as i have the ability (although not neccesarilly the time) to listen the naked scientist will be no more!!!!!

Er the series will end in March (27/3). We might come back for a new series in the autumn - it all depends on the bbc and funding.

Do you like the show then ?!

OOO... another question...  I'm all interested in the show now that I have the oppertunity to listen.  Do you have any idea as to your listenership over there (and globally)  I'm just curious as to how popular the show is.  We have a show here in the states Called "Science Friday's"  Its quite good.  Similar format to naked scientist.  I'm not sure how popular it is here among non-scientists, but everyone I know who works in a lab anywhere says that everyone they work with makes sure to listen in every week at work.  I make sure to plan my friday work day so that I'll be near a radio from 1-3.  Its too bad your show doesn't air during normal work hours.

well, the guys who run the BBC eastern region - David Clayton (BBC Norfolk), David Martin (BBC Cambs) and Tim Bishop (overall regional director based at the forum in norwich).

If you (and this goes for anyone that wishes to help) think that this project deserves to carry on, and you would like to see it continue, or even expand to cover a bigger broadcast area, then let the people above know your genuine thoughts by dropping them a line, or calling them up.

At the end of the day the BBC are there to serve the public. But the people who have the tough job of running radio stations are not mind readers - if listeners don't tell them what they think of a project, station editors can only guess, and make what they think are the best decisions based upon the information they have.

Well that would make for some interesting airplay wouldn't it ?.....I meant I'm going to let them know how wonderful I think the show is, I shan't protest because I assume you haven't made public (ie: on air) the shows potential demise eh ?....and if I did send them a bomb it would only be a stinky one [:o)]

C'mon everybody, get on board...I'm sure they'll be impressed if some of our geographically challenged (ie: non Uk'ers) contributors voiced there opinions too..[^]

...actually Chris...I know you obviously can't publish the telephone numbers but if you have them can you email them to me or/and their email addresses.....don't ' bust a gut ' over it...I'm fairly resourceful and will contact them anyway.

ditto to all of the above.

also, I was thinking about mustering up a local following for your show around here (i knew it would come in handy someday to know hundreds of science nerds) and see if we can petittion our local (minnesota) public radio to look into carry the show.  They do carry some bbc programming, so why not expand to the bbc's finest??  what would your thoughts be on going international chris?

Well Mayo, that's a great idea - and I can say that because I have been trying to explore that very option for a fw months now. Unfortunately my lack of knowledge regarding the intricacies of US radio has frustrated the process !

In fact, you don't have to pursuade your station to take a BBC programme, because we're actually independent and hence can provide content / material in any format they want. All we need is the introduction / contacts and a sympathetic ear at their end to give it a go.
