Is hard drive recovery possible on Windows 10?
« on: 08/04/2019 09:11:52 »
I am recently facing random issues with the hard drive on my Windows 10 and I updated the system to fix the issue, but after it, all my data from the hard drive has been lost and I can't restore the data from the drive anymore. Can anyone tell me how hard drive recovery is possible on my Windows 10 system?

The website you had in your profile claims to be a recovery program, so this is clearly a poor attempt to spam us.
We’ve changed your website to ours, and banned you - no recovery from either by the way.

Set up a USB dongle with a Linux system such as zorin-os-6-core-64 connect a second HDD or SSD with a windows 10 system on to your computer and start up the Linux system.
You will now find that every thing is visible on the faulty drive and can be copied over to the new one.
It would of course be simpler just to load a new system onto the faulty drive and simply move over everything from windows old but I am assuming there is too much damage to the faulty drive to get it to start up

Press F2 when you start your PC. It will allow you to run data recovery software and recover data without Windows. 1) Select the disk where you want to recover data and click the "Scan" button. 2) Let the software scan the selected disk to find all the files and folders.

I recently recovered a corrupted camera SD card
- The corruption happened when I was reviewing/deleting photos, and my Windows 10 laptop froze
- After I restarted the laptop, it could not read any files on the SD card

There is a free file recovery program for Windows 10, available from the Microsoft store
- It recovers from the damaged drive to another drive which has free space.
- It only has a command-line interface
- Unfortunately, the documentation was pretty sparse
- I had to watch a few Youtube videos on how to use it
- One hint that dropped in a video was that it only accepts lower case
- After that, it was able to recover pretty much all the photos from the SD card.

So don't pay extra for a file recovery program - first try the free one from the operating system vendor- it works (if a little clunky!).
