Title: Apart from CO2, what other global warming gases are locked up in the ocean?
Post by: Anarchistkid on 03/03/2008 02:36:54
I've been thinking about global warming a bit and i remembered that along with Co2 there is another gas that increases global warming and i believe a lot of it is trapped in giant deposits in the ocean what gas is this another greenhouse gas i don't know which one though. Thats how earths temperature rose from one ice age i believe is that a lot of it was released into the atmosphere surely someone knows what gas it is.

I suspect what you are referring to is methane, a lot of it is considered to be trapped in methane hydrates (although I believe there is some dispute about actual quantities involved).

But you have to remember that the most potent of greenhouse gases is actually water vapour itself.
