I think that as tiem goes by, the hydrocarbons may start separating from the substrate they are suspended in. That expiration date is eons ahead of when that will actually occur. The real reason for that date? To get you to throw away your old one and buy a new one. If it looks like there's a clear liquid layer on top of the gel, just mix it around a little, it'll be fine.

The example of 'best before' dates that really makes me chuckle is mineral water. The bottle proudly announces that the water is a million years old, then has stamped on the lid 'best before 2006' !

It might. If there are micro-organism in the water eventually they will multiply and infect the water. But it will probably takes years for that to happen.

Yeah, but I think that old vaseline makes your semen taste bad.

I said I think. Maybe someone would like to conduct an experiment, and no, I am not volunteering to do the taste test.
-
I volunteer to try out the old petroleum jelly.
-
Where have you been putting the vaseline ?

I KNEW IT!!!! Thanks for the input "Neil's wife".

As far as I know, people use petroleum jelly for anal sex. So of course it makes semen taste bad.
-
.....as far as I know...petroleum jelly is also used as a lubricant for posterior penetration but is in fact the last thing you should use, as it is not intended to be used internally or as a lubricant......you need a water based lube like KY.....err........so I've been told !!!

That's right, Neil. Petroleum based products are not suitable for internal use. I also heard that KY is OK, but vegetable oils (olive oil in particular) do the same job, are cheaper and taste good.

Don't suppose you'd be using 'Extra Virgin' Olive oil.[;)]

Sorry MooseHole, I'm just sharing knowledge, not my sexual exploits. Personally, I don't care what it tastes like, I'm not tasting it.

Yes, there's regular olive oil and virgin olive oil. The virgin and extra virgin varieties are scraped off the top of the batch, so they have less crap in them (extra virgin has the least crap). So I guess it wouldn't make sense to use any type of virgin olive oil for anal sex, since you'll just get more crap in it anyway.
