I think this question is very relevant. At the moment, humanity is not ready to colonize Mars, but I have no doubt that the time will come and people will live on Mars.

Probably you are right and one day we will colonize the red planet. But we should understand that the life of human beings will be changed completely as as a result of the harsh environment of the red planet and will not be the same as we have on Earth.

I liked the way how microsatellites are developing and how they partialy substitute ordinary sats. This is a cheaper and easier way for some missions ordinary sats used to do. Also, we may use microsats bigger number of fields that only emphasis their competence. Satellite technology take part in our everyday live, so we cannot imagine our precent world without sat technology

A chance for profits, recycling satellites. Lot's and lot's of rare earth in them I guess. But mostly they burn up. You could make it a International law that once they've done 'their thing', they still should be able to push themselves to earth to burn. But with the new types of micro satellite's miniaturized to a extreme degree we might not even notice them.  Well, maybe? The problem relates to the scale of them, doesn't it?

That is a good point. They should be able to push themselves to earth to burn. And that is a good idea that can be used for futher usage of sats and microsats that don`t have large term of longevity. But space junk it`s not just used sats, There are a lot of fragments and parts from rockets and space shuttles.

Could there be life on other planets.

If you go by earths example then shouldnt the anwser be,unlikely.

The earth has been around for about 5 billion years, and yet life has only started here once, as all life on earth is related.

once in 5 billion years would mean life must be so hard to start in the first instance that maybe life on earth is just a fluke[]

There are also many other factors that have got be taken into account which has aided life and complex life on our planet to survive.

Like our position in our galaxy,our type and size of our sun and the fact that its not a binary. Jupiter handy for removing the odd comet that comes our way. the moon. the tilt of our planet very handy that. the size of our planet and its position in our solar system ,it's molten core , magnetisphere. oxygen nitrogen mix. the list could go on for ever.

May be our planet is unique and the life on it is unique. is it so unlikley that we are alone,could we be the first.[]

I assume that threr is a possibility that some sorts of life can exists on Mars. To be more accurate, scientists found frozen water on Mars.There is a possibility that we can find in that ice some sorts of life that existed on the red planet billions years ago.

Yes, I know that, but they most probably need to cary large amounts of oxygen and hydrogen to create water using a special machine. This has many logistical problems but will multiply in complexity as they are travelling the longest distance yet.

The water would be "mined" from Mars surface. They might need some digging/drilling and purification.

Yeah, definitely this water is not acceptable for drinking. If we have there a high level of radiation, the water is 100% radioactive, and I don`t think that such a purification system exists to clean water from radiation.

While radiation levels on Mars are higher than those on the Earth ( an average of 8 rad/yr vs 0.62 rad/yr) and would be unhealthy over long term exposure, we are not talking about sitting next to an unshielded nuclear pile levels.
Besides, that isn't how radiation works.  Just being exposed to radiation doesn't make something "radioactive". 
For water on Mars to be unsafe due to radiation, it would have to be contaminated with a radioactive element*. (which like any other contaminant be filtered out.)

*or having a higher than normal H3 vs H1 content.  But since H3 only makes up a trace amount of  all Hydrogen, and any process energetic enough to convert H1 in a water molecule to H3 would rip apart the molecule, this is not likely.

Yeah, I was wrong about the contamination of the water on the red planet.
The type of radiation present on Mars is not due to any radioactive materials present on the Red Planet, but is due to regular exposure to cosmic rays and solar wind, plus it receives occasional lethal blasts that occur with strong solar flares.
Contamination versus Exposure:
However, a body of water exposed to radiation is not necessarily contaminated with radioactive material.
For water to be contaminated, radioactive material must be present; either floating on or dissolved in the water. Since cosmic and solar radiation is delivered in the form of rays, it simply passes through the water and does not contaminate it or make the water radioactive.

What is the most advanced space technology you ever heard about? Today, when we are close to the crewed journey to Mars it`s rather interesting to know, what was for you the real breakthrough in the space tech world?
