Why do toast crumbs stick to kitchen surfaces, and bread crumbs do not?

I would guess it may be down to differences in the electrical and electrostatic qualities of the carbon in toast (particularly burnt toast) as against those of moist bread. There may also be differences in the size and weight of the crumbs, and so the forces the adhesion needs to apply.
Have you actually done any tests that confirm that toast crumbs do stick better, or what type of toast sticks better, or whether dried bread sticks better than moist bread?

well it's just an observation at this time...however, i have set an experiment up.
I have four test "subjects"
1. bread
2. very lightly toasted bread
3. lovely golden brown toast
4. burnt toast
i have made three seperate scrapings off all four, which i will check on hourly. scraping one at the first hour, scraping two at the second and scraping three at the third hour.
I await the results.

yes, i could maybe then use that loaf of bread to replace the missing crust mentioned in another topic....

well having finished the experiment, you can keep your loaf of bread.
After hours 1,2 and 3 all of the bread and various degrees of burnt toast had failed to stick to the kitchen work surface.
So, i thought that it must only happen when the toast is on top of the crumbs. i then made 3 slices of toat.
1. barely brown, just toasted enough to begin to harden
2. golden brown
3. burnt
i took some scrapings from each slice and place the relative slice of toast on top. after 2 minutes i removed the slices of toast and some crumbs from all 3 slices had stuck to the kitchen work surface.
so, i think it is either the heat from the toast, and or the moisture still within the toast that does ...........something.....

LOL, yes i like Gary Numan too. never seen hime live but one of my favourite artists i have seen live is ...oh i can' think of his name..70's/80's singer, always wore black with a big quiff...stupid memory

Yes, bad manners come around here most years, the last time i saw them buster was at the bar buying a pint. he was scrimping change...adding the coppers up.

never heard of the kid, and i'm not sure what drum 'n' bass is! i will have a look around for the music and see.
