You're not talking about Young's double slit experiment. That experiment sent single photons towards the double slits. The beam width is greater than the size of the two slits. The pattern that is built up as a large number of photons pass through the double slits forms the same pattern as a beam of light would.

You're not talking about Young's double slit experiment. That experiment sent single photons towards the double slits. The beam width is greater than the size of the two slits. The pattern that is built up as a large number of photons pass through the double slits forms the same pattern as a beam of light would.

IMO the only difference is that the light source is much dimmer than Young's experiment, hence requires much more sensitive detector. But I think there is a loophole in our interpretation on this dimmer version of Young's experiment.
Just because the detector shows single dot activated by the light doesn't necessarily mean that there is actually only a single light particle received by the detector. One alternative explanation is that detector would be active after some threshold is exceeded by accumulated energy from the light source.
