Animal Classifications

Hi Guys...
A friend of mine working for Ushaka Marineworld in Durban, South Africa, has asked me to try find a website that classifies animals/organisms into family/species/phylum etc (the whole pyramid). Ideally one where you can enter the name of the organism, and have the full classification reported back WITH REASONS.
He's currently studying biology, and would appreciate a website that could assist him in the regard.
Anyone know of one??
Thanks...

Hi Hardbody......Some times a takes a little while to get an answer........consider it a 'work in progress' and hopefully an answer might ensue....it's possible that such a detailed website may not exist ....yet.......
I'm just wondering if something as detailed that your friend wants may not be available in the public domain, it is a specialist subject and maybe only available to subscribers . Perhaps you should check some Marine Institute orientated websites. In fact you'd think that where your friend works that they should have the relative information !...........good luck anyway.

Here's one that is simply for marine organisms:

Couldn't find a more complete one but some time with Google should turn one up. Try searches on "organism taxonomy database" and see what you get.
