The Sun and the Moon are One

I have a theory about the sun
that it and the moon are one
The reason is that when you travel time and space
you end up getting the same picture both ways
the sun a bit brighter
because the moons diluted
the difference is in night and day
thats a bit of science ignited for you

If that was true, then you wouldn't be able to see the Sun and the Moon at the same time in the sky and solar eclipses would be impossible. The Sun is far larger, far hotter and much further away from the Earth than the Moon is. The composition of the two bodies is radically different. The Earth orbits the Sun whereas the Moon orbits the Earth.

Next week, at about 5:30am on Saturday 29th July 2018 (Sydney time), there will be a total eclipse of the Moon.
- The blood-red Moon will be visible in the West.
- The Sun will be below the horizon in the East.
- The Earth will be in a straight line between the Sun and Moon
- As the Sun rises in the East, the Moon will be setting in the West.
- They are in opposite directions.
- They are not the same!
There
is
one sense in which the Sun and the Moon are the same: From the Earth's surface, the diameter of the Moon in the sky is
almost
the same as the diameter of the Sun in the sky, allowing us to see the Sun's corona during a total eclipse. But this is a temporary coincidence, as:
- In the past, the Moon was closer to the Earth, and looked larger in the sky
- In the future, the Moon will be farther from Earth, and there will be no total eclipses of the Sun
- Even now, if the Moon is at the farthest point in its orbit when it passes in front of the Sun, it looks too small to completely block the Sun, and you get an "annular eclipse" (a ring of bright sunlight around the Moon).
