Title: What's The Next Stage After Rust ? Does Rust.........rust ?

Dearest Rustologists,

Rust is my all time favourite thing that happens to stuff that makes it go reddish brown (the next favourite thing involves a tomato vindaloo and underwear !)

Anyway, look here will ya ?

Here's some rust doing what rust does...and that is........erhmm...rusting !

Now I thought rust happens to just metal stuff but that is rust on a porcelain tile !!....what's that all about ?

So, what is rust ?..what materials rust ?..and what happens after rusting ?..does rust...rust ?..or is there a next stage to rusting away ?

I think that after oxidation  and rust that....it just discenegrates and goes away and turns to rust dust lol...
As for the tile... did you Have somthing like a metal tin or container siting on it.... usually bleaching and scrubing will remove rust from the tile unless the tile was not sealed.

Rust can be a large number of iron oxides and comes in different colours (mainly either green or red) but most people understand rust as Fe₂O₃, which is the red stuff.

Pretty much anything which contains iron will rust under suitable conditions.

After rusting, the item usually becomes brittle around that area and can be a subject to erosion among other things.

Green rust rusts into Red rust. That sounded weird. Rusting is a process of oxidation so as long as the iron can still be oxidized, it will rust. This is the case with green rust turning into red rust.

If you're interested in empirical evidence, my daughter's got a nail in a cup of water on our balcony, rusting away (school project) -shall I let you know what it looks like this time next year? Right now it looks like a wet, rusty nail.

That'll teach me not to park overnight on the streets of Liverpool!

If you're lucky you'll find your car on 4 piles of bricks with the wheels pinched. If you're not so lucky, you'll find some other bugger pinched the rest of your car and just left 4 piles of bricks in the road. But if you're really unlucky, you find some other git pinched the bricks!!!

It's not just Liverpool though, I was in North London (poke at Neil) the other day and yawned for too long. Some toe rag filched the fillings out of my teeth!!!
