Title: What are the electronegativity values for polar and non-polar compounds?
Post by: thedoc on 12/04/2014 00:30:02
Lizelle Swanepoel asked the Naked Scientists:
I was wondering if one of your chemistry experts could give clarity on electronegativity difference values, please?

I use values of between 0.5 and 2 to show polar covalent compounds and smaller than 0.5 to be non-polar. Bigger than 2 is ionic.

Are these values correct? Thanks for your advice!

Kind regards
Lizelle
