Quote from: green on 23/08/2010 22:06:21I will gladly post up the ACTH test results as soon as I get them, but for that it's going to be quite a waiting game, my next endo appointment is early November, I'll see if I can get it moved to an earlier date, it's pretty stressful waiting around for results.Maybe you can call for the results. They have the results in 1 up to 2 weeks max. Tommorow I will call my familydoctor to send me to the endo. I will ask for a cortisol research and a mri scan for adrenal glands or the pituitary.

What do you think of my Syndrome of Cushing-theory?
Quote from: Vandemolen3 on 23/08/2010 21:57:04What do you think of my Syndrome of Cushing-theory?Looked into this in the past but wasn't fully satisfied POIS was down to Cushing's, my last recorded Cortisol level was well into the lower half of the range, but this was two months after masturbation/sex induced POIS. I don't know anyone with Cushing's syndrome, but briefly looking on the internet can't find any posts pertaining to worsening symptoms after sex or masturbation.Taken from; http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Cushing's-Syndrome.htm [I assume the symptoms list is cited] these are some of the symptoms.Obesity - with fat around the main body area (trunk) rather than the arms and legs. The arms and legs can become quite thin compared with the obese body.I am not at all obese, there is a collection of fat around my trunk lately, but this is down to some of the medications I'm on and also a lack of exercise recently due to a back injury. My legs are quite muscular, down the amount of cycling I do, my arms are also not thin. I have a lot of stomach bloat, my waist can fluctuate quite a few inches.Facial puffiness, and the face often looks redder than usual. This happens in POIS, my face becomes round and puffy, facial features usually return a month after POIS, face does not look redder in POIS althoughDiabetes.I'm not aware I have thatFacial hair in women.Doesn't apply [|)]High blood pressure.I take beta blockers, I have seen it high as ~150/90 and low as 105/55 blood pressure although normally falls into the normal rangeMuscle weakness. In particular a proximal muscle weakness. The proximal muscles are the ones in your arms and legs nearest to the body. So, the muscles around the thigh, pelvis, shoulders and upper arms are the proximal muscles.Shoulder muscles are pretty weak because of a kyphotic curve, it's irritable and somedays I take pain killers, in POIS I struggle to brush my teeth for a minute or twoThin skin which bruises easily.I've always had thin skin, I get cut VERY easily, but I rarely bruise. This is significantly exaggerated during POISPurple/pink stretch marks (striae) may appear - similar to those seen on some pregnant women.I have stretch marks around my stomach and biceps, slightly purple stretch marks in lower abdomen, but stretch marks are white on biceps.Tiredness.Synonymous with POISAches and pains - particularly backache.Kyphosis related muscle pain on my back, joints are VERY painful in POIS but after a month or so fluidity return, albeit still weakMood swings - such as being more irritable, depressed, or anxious than usual.I have very little tolerance to stress, most things build up into an anxiety which I'm unable to account for, I'm very sure this is down to the very low testosterone level I've got <215ng/dlLack of sex drive (libido). [:-'(] [:-'(] [:-'(]Osteoporosis ('brittle bones'). You may fracture a bone more easily than usual.Last time I had a confirmed broken bone was, when I was 1 years old and tumbled down a flight of stars, I've since fallen off my bike/sporting had related injures, none of which have caused any broken bones, altough my bones are thin, possibly down to low vit DOedema ('water retention') around the ankles.noneExcess thirst. No, neverMore susceptible to infections.Sinus infection and UTI's hmmm...Affected children tend to be obese, but grow slowly so are short for their age.During childhood I was always underweightAll the research I've done points to POIS being a endocrine related illness, I'm not totally convinced it's Cushing's syndrome, but if a few more POIS suffers can do the above, then it might warrant looking into Cushing's more deeply. If I was to play Where's Waldo then, I'd look into the full spectrum, sequence of orgasm and arousal and work with existing results, but that appears to be complicated, and for someone who has very little interest in biology, bar POIS I'm not going to get far, I'm going to try though. []Yesterday, I was impatient waiting for my 80% to 90% POIS cure, so I experimented to hasten the cure with a heavy dose of carbohydrates!Lots of lasagna. Iced espresso. Large oatmeal cookie. It seemed to work! (Placebo effect? Maybe [])Placebo or not, some of you may recall, that I have always historically craved carbohydrates at POIS onset. I realize that this goes counter to some of your experiences that indicate that carbohydrates can be POISon. []It's really strange ! But it's a good thing if it works for you. I think carbs may help you with concentration/cognition and less with allergy-like symptoms and itching, isn't it ?My symptoms have been decreased a lot since I reduce and I chose my carbs. I often have some symptoms 30 or 45 min after meals that's why the influence of glycemia is clear.

Update:I had an O last Friday. I remained stable until Monday when I felt some of my old symptoms. It felt like too much of something was being released, I could sense my cognition being affected by the change, and my neck glands felt a little swollen. Who knows, maybe it is excessive cortisol being released, doesn't it supress the immune system? I am on nutmeg and I noticed that my reaction to it was less noticeable in the state, so I upped my intake and the next day the POIS "feeling" was not present, so maybe this might be an effective supplement for us. I will be interested in hearing if it helps others. I was taking 1/8 teaspoon daily, and I upped it to about 3/8 to 1/4 teaspoon temporarily.

Be carefull with nutmeg. An overdose nutmeg can be deadly! For the people who believe the high cortisol theory:Caffeine raises the cortisol level.Ginseng and Relora brings cortisol down. Ginseng is Chinese. The best way to lower the cortisol level is to stay relaxed, don't stress.I am not going to try Relora or Ginseng before a urine test of my cortisol. Tommorow I will go to my specialist and ask for a test or he has to make an appointment about a week. He doesn't know why I have so many UTI's. Well I know, because of the high Cortisol.
