it may be because we don't often remember our dreams unless we're woken in the middle of them. perhaps you only remember the dream because your body woke you up and said "HEY GO PEE!"

It's because your body is still communicating with your brain while you are asleep. Your brain shoves the sensation into your dream because that's the only way to get your attention if you're sleeping.Well, I suppose your brain could make you poke yourself in the ribs, but that's just plain daft.
