Mice with humanised livers are allowing scientists to study hepatitis C virus infections thanks to a US breakthrough.

Can human liver tissue be grown in nude rats, or nude mice?  It would seem that a transplant of human liver tissue might be the easiest way to achieve the goal (one might be able to even transplant diseased tissue), although these immune suppressed mice that are capable of supporting the Hep C virus should be useful.
