Grrrrrrrrrr !!
I luff windows...I hate Windows !!...
I luff them because they are great for letting me see what's outside and I hate them because every time I get a friggin Windows update (Vista !!..yep..VISTA [xx(] [xx(])...the volume Icon gets removed from my task-bar !..not only that but when I go to the properties...it's greyed out so I can't even instruct the computer to put it back there as an option !!
I have to restart the computer AGAIN ...for it to be made available as an option !!
why's that then ? Why Do Updates Mess Up My Volume Icon Thingy ?

Why are you using an olde worlde system like Vista ?, get with it and graduate to windows 7 or even windows 8 which you can get for free

Here it is, it seems a bit strange at first but you will soon get used to it.
This free version only runs for six months but I expect it will be possible before long to download fully activated versions from file sharing sites.

I've never had this problem with Vista but apparently there is an automatic fix from microsoft ...
System icons do not appear in the notification area in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 until you restart the computer ..

It wasn't moral condemnation, it was a warning that pirated / cracked software can have malware (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware)added. The cracker is willing to steal from the program’s author, so why shouldn’t they be willing to steal your computer resources by making your machine a zombie (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_computer), or steal/extort money from you by keylogging / holding your computer to ransom ?.
Oh if you believe anti-malware software will detect any bonus extra features added to a cracked operating system, think again ...

The operating system I run Is an OEM version of windows 7 64 bit that I obtained from my son two years ago that resides on a USB dongle.
It is of course rather outdated and if loaded spends about three hours loading various security updates and SP1.
The only guaranteed unadulterated operating system that I have is the new windows 8 Pre beta that can be downloaded from Microsoft for test purposes.
Is there any way I can use this to test the integrity of the windows 7 that I use with the latest msse anti virus.
I have never to the best of my knowledge been subject to any attacks and always keep a lookout for any strange internet traffic.
There is SOPHOS free rootkit detection software on offer but I hesitate to use it as it may be a trap !!, my computer is running fine so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

An overnight full run of msse anti virus and exterminate revealed a Trojan in a program that I had stored but had not run for about a year (the system has been reloaded since then), I had a problem some while ago with drives not reporting their true capacity which is now cured but in future I will due full overnight msse runs with the modem switched of after loading any suspect programs.
