Dearest Magnetologists.
As a sheepy I of course luff magnets. Magnets are great, they kind of like well stick to stuff and are fun.
Look, here are mine.....I don't know what they are made from but they are very strong.

My Magnets A Few Mins Ago
Now as I understand it..the Earth is like a well big magnet !..ewe got a north pole and a south pole..(my magnets don't have cold ends though.....nor do my magnets have penguins and polar bears....hmmmmm !!...*le pondering sheepy*)
Am I right in thinking that the magnetic strength of the earths field varies depending where you are on the planet ?..if so...would this make my magnets change their weight depending on where they are as the magnetic attraction varies it's pull ?
whajafink ?
Hugs & Shmishes
mwah mwah mwah !

That would make sense to me.. sense the earth has several altitudes of mountain tops so some may be closer somewhat to the moon and the closer we are together the moon and the earth, I think the gravity becomes stronger... I would think that the magnets may become heavier.. if the gravity were increased here..I think we get lighter the higher up we go so my guess would be yes that they might become heavier to to the pressure of more gravity pushing them down..I think!

Thanks Kareny Mam.
I failed to explain myself correctly. I should have said that I am asumming my magnets are at the same height above the ground in any part of the world..so...lets just say sea level...I am specifically referring to to the varying strength of the earths magnetic field in different locales

LOL..thats ok its over my head anyway!

I think that the major consideration wouldn't be the strength of the Earth's magnetic field but its dip angle. Around the magnetic equator the magnetic field lines will be running pretty much parallel to the Earth's surface and so would tend to make the magnets move horizontally rather than vertically, which wouldn't affect their weight at all. It's only towards the magnetic poles where they start to point downwards.
They look like a nice pair of magnets sheepy - where did you get them, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks LeeE..they are UberOrbs and they are quite nifty !...here's a site that sells them http://www.firebox.com/product/762/UberOrbs and try here http://www.paramountzone.com/uberorbs.htm#...
Do not place them any where near your TV....but I gather ewe would know that...check out some of the videos available...thye do make good fun !!
Thanks for your great info above.

Ta - I'll keep an eye out for them.

You're welcome.
Love the lavalamp by the way....is that Escher wallpaper ?

I kinda figured that only LeeE might understand this.....I want to tell..but it's all about LeeE...that's my clue !! [;D]

Hee hee !!..I can see that ewe're well on your way to finding it out !!
-
Yup, it's a bit of Escher, applied as a texture. I think it would make pretty good wallpaper too. In fact, quite a lot of his stuff would make good wallpaper. Hehe - I'm not going to say either, but it's not really hidden.

Way cool lava lamp but I like the one next to it too! And I really want to visit that Bedroom! WAY DANG COOL!!! Neat pictures leeE!!!

Yes indeedy!

Hmm... I really think I need to re-design the site. I liked the obscurity when I first did it but I've gone off the idea now. I really ought to finish some of those pics too.

They are really wonderful!!
