I have started to use the efficient deaf aid issued by the NHS 3 three years ago and have been reading all I can find.
All the adverts emphasize how inconspicuous they are as if there was something deeply shameful about being deaf (like having (HIV), I would be happy to wear a gaming head set if it did a good job I am in no way ashamed of being deaf !

Because people identify deafness with age, and people don't want to be thought of as old.

Or because people don't read and watch enough Sci-Fi ? Geordi la Forge from Star Trek etc.
I have a pair of thick glasses with "Google" written on them and young children think that's really cool. They're just ordinary glasses with a label I stuck on them. It's some nonsense about fashion and people wanting to conform with something. I don't know. Just keep doing what you're doing Syhprum, get something that works well and suits you.
Best Wishes to you.
