I ran a diagnostics programme on my computer the other day to identify the spec of a piece of installed hardware.
The programme also generated reports on other aspects of the computer activity and I was rather surprised to see that it was running as 2 servers.
When I looked at the IP address for this other "server" it was totally outside my network.
Someone has created a mapped connection to another computer masquerading as a mapped drive (which I do use for backups).
I've blocked this IP using firewall configuration, which ought to stop it for now, but can anyone suggest where in the config this network connection is being established so that I can remove it?

Try looking at the network settings associated with your network adapter(s). You might also want to try searching through the registry looking for instances of the IP address to give you some further clues.
