Title: BLACK HOLES ! could we see the stuff one day?
Post by: neilep on 14/03/2006 20:55:37
Salutations !

Ok, you've got this black hole eh ?..it's black and well.....it's a hole ?..or could it be a  'well ' ?....anyway...care to speculate what happens to the black hole should it evaporate because there's no more stuff for it to swallow ?......I suppose I'm thinking that as the hole gets smaller and smaller could it possibly revert back to a non black hole ?...I know all the stuff gets ' spaghettified ' but I thought matter can not be destroyed...just turned into energy !..or are black holes the exception ?...I'm wondering if there could ever be a possibility that all the stuff that is swallowed inside a black hole could eventually be revealed by the holes decay !!..or for any other reason !!

Thank you

Hawking (I think it was him) showed that black holes evaporate and will eventually disappear. However, you still wouldn't be able to tell what it was that went into the black hole. "Black holes have no hair"

sooo, potentially one day, if humans ever advance enough, they could take a blakc hole, throw in all the trash of humanity, and get out energy?

I don't think it would come out quick enough to be useful. Although I do seem to remember reading that the evaporation increases with time; something to do with the event horizon shrinking, maybe.
