I heard that High heels were invented so ladies did not drag their dress through the rubbish and filth that was on the pavements, is this true?
-
LOL Why didn't they just buy shorter dresses. I reckon they were invented to stretch the leg muscles in order to make the legs appear slimmer.
-
After considerable study, over many years, I've come to the conclusion that not only do high heels appear to lengthen the legs but they also put more of a curve in the calf muscles, making them more shapely.
-
I've heard the high heels were invented by men so that the fantasy that women were somehow captive - you can't get away fast in them - could be perpetuated. [:o]
This would be reinforced when women took to wearing them by choice - bit like the old Chinese foot binding tradition.
Personally, I think they look daft and women who go along with it and wear them don't do themselves any favours.
-
I know for a fact, that high heels were invented to make Neil look even more sexy !
-
As a male with an ankle problem, I would like to say they are just really, really bad for the feet and women (or cross dressers) are best avoiding them.

Before I tell you all this, can I point out that I am an exhibition contractor. I work on all types of exhibitions, all over the UK.
This week I have had work on the Spirit of Christmas show at Olympia, later this month I will be working as logistics contractor on PETEX (Petroleum Exploration) and Erotica (no need to explain, me thinks).
Last year on Erotica there was some nutty bloke (I wouldn't have said that to his face, he was built like a brick out-house) visiting the show who was about 6' 13" tall and, as I say, built like a brick s**t house, wearing pink high heels and a pink mini dress and with what I presume to have been a long curly blonde wig and a huge set of, again presumably, false boobs.
Just thought you'd like to know that...... Probably you didn't, but you do now, so NURRRR!

High heels are the curse of humanity !

Not only do they torture sensitive feet, cause chronic excruciating back pain. They are one of the root causes of emotional and mental stress suffered over the anxieties of their acquisition, maintenance and eventual trauma of separation.....
...and that's not mentioning the untold thousands of cases of permanent whiplash, ruptured arteries due to sudden extreme high blood pressure, sudden heart attacks....
...climbs off soapbox and puts on VERY comfy sneakers

Apparently, folks, high heels were invented by Catherine de Medici for her marriage at the age of 14 to the Duke of Orleans(who was to become Henry the second, King of France). Being rather diminutive, she was worried about looking bad at her first major social occasion, so requested shoes with an elevated heel be made for her.
-
I love them!
PS: I'm a sexist male pig.

I once read that high heels started as a male accessory so that feet could stay firmly in stirrups while riding (I have in my mind that it was in France - but I could be mistaken)
Where or why the changeover occurred I don't know.
