I thought it was in incredibly poor taste for Chris to say that a man's possessing the head of "Adam", the Torso in the Thames, proved that "two heads are better than one". Besides the fact of the poor taste, the joke did not even make sense in this context, as we have no knowledge that the person's possession of a child's severed head conferred any sort of benefit.
This is not the sort of comment I expect from the BBC.

I think Chris should be sacked. In fact, the crowd are calling for Chris's head...on a plate...
...oops, perhaps that was an insensitive reply under the circumstances...

Excuse me what exactly did Chris say? I cannot believe it was that bad.
With regards to expectation why should your expectations over rule other peoples?
You clearly got offended, I'm sure Chris did not intend to offend you or anyone else and just thought it was funny.
We all have our own sense of humour, and in a free society on a public television/radio station you should expect to see a variety of programmes and varying senses of humor, which of course will not be to everyones taste.
We are all free to joke, as you are free to be offended and complain. Though I seriously doubt that Chris ever thought that people would take it as you have, that could be bad judgement on his part, not having heard the joke I cannot say, but either way that is hardly a reason to call for him to be sacked.
And I would like to add that it is very sad that you would call for his resignation, in a way it seems quite blood thirsty, and inhuman.

It sure is, and you beat me to posting a link. A quote from "what is, the naked scientist"
"is to help people enjoy science as much as we do and, at the same time, to have fun."
Part of the beauty of the show is the humour.

Also, sometime last summer my (then 8 year old) daughter had a question on grass and pollen answered on the show by Chris. Chris made a joke about her smoking grass, did i take offence, no.
You need to understand the humour, the show has a humour that i share and this makes for a great hours entertainment. would you watch bernard manning (ok, he's dead and was totally unfunny and you would be sad to laugh at his jokes)and then complain about his "jokes"?

Having heard what was said.
It could be considered a joke, but really I think it is just a statement, relating to the mindset of the murder/s: ´It suggests, having two heads are better than one´.
It suggests, (in the mind of the murder that) having two heads are better than one.
As such it would be a joke that laughed at the stupidity of a criminal that thought- owning someone else's head somehow benefited them.
Or it was just a witty way to move on to the next section.....
He certainly was not laughting at the victim.
Cannot believe I have just wasted two post talking about this. When this complaint has been generated, basically from a misrepresented understanding of the material.
I completely agree with paulat ´GET A LIFE´.
For even if you worst fears were realised it would still, though insensitive, not warrant the action called for.
Chris has done nothing wrong, END OF.

I totally agree with you Tanizaki
I think chris's comment "two heads are better than one" was definitely in poor taste and insensitive and he should have really known better. I can imagine after hearing his comments many young teenagers acne sufferers protesting their anger and joining forces with you. [;D]
I can here them now all chanting "Off with his head"

In case my comments be misconstrued, as it seem some have done, I am not calling for any changes in the show's panel. I simply commented that even if the joke made sense, which it did not, it was in poor taste.

Been looking at this post all evening and now finally after hours of staring at it I have decided to comment reluctantly....

so its not in poor taste. As such WHY, did you post at all?
