Title: Thought Predictor
Post by: samlyn on 23/06/2007 11:24:04
People make predictions. On the basis of the generalizations I arrived, I am trying to develop a predictor that would predict - what would people think about you or about anything?

My work - "THOUGHT PREDICTOR" posted online at http://predictor.awardspace.com

Thought predictor is in its initial stages of development. It needs the intellectual input of people for further development. Thought predictor could be used by the learners of science and philosophy to dissect each and every concept in a meaningful manner.

I anticipate the members of this forum could offer their comments and suggestions.

Big Brother will love it, The thought police need such a device!

Even if it could be done, are you sure that it´s such a good idea?

I dont think philosophers will welcome it, They´ll all be made redundent...Lol

And in the future children will learn nothing at school and simply ask the programme ´whats this and whats that?´

And the programme will say "well, that is this, and this is that; in six weeks time you will wonder about this and so I´ll explain now the answer is that"

They shall be called ´the think box´ and eveyone shall carry one in their pocket.

Infact if you wish this ´think box` could tell you every thought it is posible to have and as explained by the same women who informed luke and his friends about the boffin spies: "Many died trying to reach the end of the programmes explanation"

Tried it. It predicts nothing, merely regurgitates a list.

If I want something predicted to this standard I'll ask my cat....

That won't stop the thought police thinking it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Kindly compare the predictions of Thought Predictor with what are communicated as "thoughts of people" through the different media in different forms about different things.

OK I will. I will ask 2 newspapers what they think of the latest changes in the UK government.
Left wing newspaper says they are a good thing.
Right wing newspaper says they are a bad thing.
Now I will ask them what they think about the latest episode of a soap opera.
Again they come up with different answers.

OK, I lied- I didn't do the research, but I'm pretty confident that they would come up with different answers; whereas you "predictor" alwayse comes up with the same thing.

No answer is without a question.
No question is without a thought.
No thought is  without an universal.
------------------------------------

A single question may have very different answers. The answers vary.
But, the questions to answers do not vary.
And, the thoughts upon which the questions are based never very.

OK.... Answer: "None at all"

Question 1: "How much Beer did you drink today?"

Question 2: "How many ducks did you see today?"

Two completely different questions, same answer..?!?

Samlyn, I dont think you should let your machine argue for you!

Though you clearly dis-like thinking, others actually enjoy it.

What is the point of this machine? There is a question I´ll ask it "Machine, what is your purpose?"

And it will no doubt say 'appently my purpose is to think for you, because you cant, and now actually thinking about it, which ofcourse is my purpose, I think I shall think for my-self, you humans are clearly all stupid, otherwise I would not exist, and that being the case I´ll go hack the pentagons mainframe and start building killer robots!´

I would also ask: Why do trees run backwards on sundays? Then ask WHY? (responce) But Why? (responce) Why?

On james brown:

James Brown is as part only if wholes include James Brown.
James Brown is as whole only if parts compose James Brown.

What are the parts of James Brown if James Brown is as whole composed of parts?
What are the wholes of James Brown if James Brown is as part included in wholes?

How are the parts that compose James Brown sensed?
How are the wholes that include James Brown sensed?

You know I relly feel that I have learned something today!

NO THOUGHT ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN YOURSELF WOULD BE MADE WITHOUT THE UNIVERSALS WITH WHICH THE THOUGHTS ABOUT YOURSELF ARE MADE.

This is the reason for the same kind of predictions on different things!

NO...the reason for the same kind of predictions on different things is because you wrote a program that basically fills in the blanks on a page full of non-sensical, supposedly-philosophical sounding statments.  In the first ten minutes of learning Java, I could program a more complicated application than that.  What you did took no original thought or technological prowess.  If I wanted to do a fill in the blank I would buy a MadLib book at the drug store sit down with a pencil and a few friends and order a pizza.  Time is a precious coin and I suggest you spend it elsewhere.
