Title: Tongue scraping

On TV lately there has been an advert for a well known make of toothbrush in which they emphasise the tongue scraper on the reverse. Is scraping a good idea? Wouldn't it damage the taste buds?

its just a gimmick.


Have you ever tried brushing your tongue with your tooth brush without gagging, it cant be done.

Anyway mouthwash does the job just as good.

I've actually started brushing my tongue !!...true the gagging is there but I do think it helps to clean the tongue when there's no mouth wash about.

I remember a few years back seeing a ' U ' shaped piece of metal that was designed to clean the tongue ....hang on !!

So why are you brushing your tongue Neil.

Don't let wifey hear you gag, otherwise she may think you've got an eating disorder.[:)]

And dont let her see you,  she could assume your trying too freshen up your breath for some other woman's benefit.[;)][:)]

And never let her sign up to this site overwise she could have an heart attack after viewing some of our posts[:D]

Well, I'm really brushing my tongue because my brush is in my gob anyway...I think it may be just a phase I'm going through.....

.......some people bite their nails or play with their hair...I brush my tongue !! [:D]

...I suspect it may be habit I will grow out of when I grow up ! [:D]

The curries I cook take the top layers off of my tongue anyway so I don't need to scrape [:D]

I have been told to brush my tongue, gums and the roof of my mouth. by dentists. They say your tongue harbors lots of germs and also odors! So I do brush my tongue and gums as They make your mouth smell better! My husband however can eat Polish sausage and salsa with tons of cilantro in it and he breathes that stuff for a week no matter how much he brushes his teeth tongue and or the roof of his mouth! Cilantro does something to his stomach in combination with the other things, I don't think he digests it very well and it hangs out in his stomach longer then other thinks, hence the lingering odor! Thats just a guess on my part but who really knows!

 That tongue scrapper looks terrible, couldn't that catch your tastebuds and Damage them? I'd rather brush!
