Title: Why do birds take dust baths?
Post by: rosy on 24/04/2005 18:16:22
There are two small birds taking a "dust bath" in the dry earth under the tree outside my window.
Anyone want to tell me/speculate as to why?

It's a great way of getting rid of ticks and lice, and excess oil from preening etc....it also has a cleansing effect too.....as you've noticed....it will usually always be dry earth !!

You're right, it's irrelevant, and we'll get rid of it for you. Please keep to the topic and note that this is a science forum and not a religious venue. Please keep islam for the mosque; here we preach scientific facts.
