Compiz Fusion in Linux

Polling here to find opinions of users and new users or even just observers of compiz fusion, the Linux devised desktop effects, showing a cube of pages, net or documents... that can be quickly rotated... and other nice looking desktop effects.

Plenty of demos can be found in youtube.

Looks annoying and slow to me, but I tend to use 4 year old laptops, so performance is more of an issue. I also find any kind of desktop effect distracting, so I am probably not the right kind of audience...

The trouble with starting or selecting things from the desktop, whether it be by Compiz Fusion or just icons, is that it invariably means I have to move one or more windows out of the way first.  I just select or start stuff from the panel and don't even use desktop icons at all, let alone CF.

...And its claws are as big as cups, and for some reason it's got a tremendous fear of stamps! And Mrs Doyle was telling me it's got magnets on its tail, so if you're made out of metal it can attach itself to you! And instead of a mouth it's got four arses!

To be honest I mostly avoid this problem by starting things from the command line, as if you have a proper keyboard it is normally quicker...
