I feared that the plan was to swop Assange to the USA in return for the American lady who fled back to the USA after a fatal motorcycle accident.
Mercifully this did not happen but when he is eventually released from prison where he remains while the Americans appeal the court decision that he should not be extradited I do not think staying in the UK would be a good idea.
I do not think they would kidnap him but they will try every legal trick in the book, it has been suggested that he moves to Mexico a foolish idea as kidnap would be very easy from there.
His best hope is a powerful country like Russia or China where a kidnap would not be possible for political reasons

There are calls in Australia to bring Assange back to Australia (if/when he is allowed to leave prison, if/when any avenues for appeal are exhausted, if/when his release conditions include leaving Britain, if/when flights are available in the middle of a pandemic....).
- At the moment Assange is safe from deportation from the UK to the USA, due to his mental condition (the judgement actually stated that the the extradition request was not denied for reasons such as being a political prisoner, or freedom of the press).
- However, if he moves back to Australia, the USA could apply to Australia to have him deported to USA, so that is not an improved situation!

The only option would be for the Australian government to appeal to the US government to withdraw the charges
- There is no point in calling Trump and asking for pardon - he is only interested in pardoning his co-conspirators and in getting announced as the next president on January 20, 2021
- There is little point in calling Biden and asking for a pardon - he is not yet president. And back when Biden was Obama's vice-president, he was calling Assange a terrorist, so it's not clear what his feelings would be now.

It is possible that, as vice-president, Biden was semi-officially expressing the US government's displeasure at being caught out. Meanwhile Obama, as president, officially decided that a Democratic US government would not pursue Assange. After all, they would have to prosecute the half of the US press (including New York Times) that printed the WikiLeaks stories. What Biden will do now that he is president remains to be seen.

Not likely that the UK would barter with the USA for extradition, we send people there all the time and the USA  never sends anyone back the other way. The USA where worried about someone helping them use the missiles that Raegan and the USA had sold them. A bit like worrying over what Iraq was doing with the WMD that they had sold Iraq.

Assange will never be allowed out of Prison. He is there to be tortured, he is the ever present reminder to anyone who dares consider either whistle blowing or reporting on a whistle blowers information, that that is what they will get.

Cleptocrats rule, war criminals protected. You fight for justice or the Truth, like Assange did you see what happens.

They'll never stop, even if he is ever freed of prison, they have many ways to torture people.
