Our decisions in the past contributes to the hardships that we have to face now. Likewise, our decisions today will contribute to the hardships that we will have to face in the future.

I don't think the decision to make Norway mountainous was a human one. However I agree that the decision to overpopulate the UK was.

The perceived difference in risk is due to the fact that ICEs don't spontaneously combust. The usual point of unintentional ignition occurs when a poorly-maintained vehicle has been running fast and hot, the fuel line comes adrift or the carburettor (remember those?) floods, and a backfire on overrun blows flames out of the air intake.

However well-maintained a BEV may be, early lithium batteries gradually developed in an internal short circuit and self-immolated entirely at random. The problem was occasionally reported in phones and computers but really hit the headlines when Boeing Dreamliners  became a fire hazard. I  think the problem has been  largely eliminated, but the fact remains that a burning BEV is very difficult to extinguish and almost impossible to salvage, which is one reason that insurance premiums have doubled in the last few years.

Have you compared the situation with Norway?

No comparison is relevant. Norway has 5 million people and 45 GW installed hydroelectric capacity to power almost everything. The UK is mostly flat and contains 70,000,000 people in about the same area.

You will only broaden the spectrum from a large sample by having an inhomogeneous field or an inhomogeneous sample (chemical shift). The gyromagnetic ratio of the proton is fixed.

1 KWh of energy used in the motor will move the car  X amount of miles. 

Estimate 3 - 5 miles per kWh. It's not quite linear with battery capacity for a given car as the bigger battery weighs more!

Ah, my son, it all depends on what you mean by a year. Genesis is an allegory, and in the eyes of the Creator what you call a year is more like a nanosecond..... Why else would Man have this instinctive desire to prostrate himself before God every 7 days?

Battery efficiency generally decreases at low temperatures, the effects being summarised as an increase in internal impedance. Thus more energy is lost to internal heating when work is done. Oddly, when starting an internal combustion engine at low temperatures it sometimes helps to crank the starter motor a few times and wait: the warmer battery can now deliver enough current to spin the motor fast enough to start the engine.

Some early BEVs had a battery preheat cycle but I think battery performance now tolerates at least UK winter conditions without it.

You can estimate the cold weather range loss from the cabin heater specification. You generally need about 5 kW to keep  the windows clear in a small car at 0 deg C, and maybe 20 kW on a really cold day.  The advantage of an internal combustion vehicle is that  hot air is an inevitable waste product, so thanks to increased air density, it actually goes further on a cold day!

Atmospheric pressure, and hence oxygen partial pressure, at 1650 m AMSL is about 80% of the sea level value. This level of oxygen depletion can induce altitude sickness in some people, with paradoxically simultaneous symptoms of both fatigue and insomnia.

So it is possible that anyone unaccustomed to sleeping at altitude could spend some time in a state of very shallow sleep, when the boundary between dreaming and rational conscious thought becomes indistinct. I think this is the state in which the conscious mind "fills the gaps"  in REM sleep with credible detail.

Obviously.

For the nth time, em radiation from a quantum process such as an electron transition within an atom,  or the disintegration of a nucleus,  will have a specific energy and associated frequency. Emr from a continuous process such as a radio antenna can have any frequency you choose. It just happens that a lot of quantised emr derives from high energy transitions, from about 1 eV upwards where continuum generation is technically difficult.

Let's see what the market will decide. In free market economy, people vote with their money.

There is no free market, at least in the UK. Home-charged BEVs are subsidised by everyone else, as are the builders of wind and solar farms. And HM Government want to ban the sale of new ICE cars, though the deadline recedes each year.

Interesting day in Britain today. Average temperature below zero, no wind, sun barely above the horizon. 10% of UK electricity production was from renewables. Note that electricity only accounts for about 30% of total UK energy consumption, so practically everything that moves or stays warm was powered by fossil fuel. I drove about 300 miles to work and back, and didn't see a single electric car on the road!

You didn't count the cost of exploration, refinery, distribution and safety precautions of the gasoline.

Of course I count the cost - I'm paying for it! Fuel suppliers are not public charities. And I'm even paying a tax levy to subsidise electric cars!

It's not an equilibrium when the energy transfer into the system is larger than the energy transfer out from the system.

Except for the case of "dynamic equilibrium". A small volume of material can be heated almost uniformly by ionising radiation or microwaves, and even in the common (and remarkably complicated) case of an egg in boiling water we can define the temperature any depth and any point in time, which is why we use  roasting thermometers and variable-temperature ovens to determine the final state of food.
