Quote
Pigeons and doves comprise the family Columbidae within the order Columbiformes, including some 300 species of near passerine birds. In general parlance the terms "dove" and "pigeon" are used somewhat interchangeably. In ornithological practice there is a tendency for "dove" to be used for smaller species and "pigeon" for larger ones, but this is in no way consistently applied, and historically the common names for these birds involve much variation between "dove" and "pigeon".

The species commonly referred to just as the "pigeon" is the feral Rock Pigeon, common in many cities.

I don't think they do it more than any other birds, except that when a bird is naturally reclusive, it tends to do it out of sight.

We have the same kind of problems with seagulls, as they are ever more present around human habitation (and beginning to move inland from the sea, as they find food as available in garbage tips as in the sea).

Pidgeons are not faithful birdies, they are also conflictual...doves tend to be less conflictual
