Title: Origins of literacy
Post by: Rokitansky on 22/05/2004 17:42:35
Archeologists in Serbia have found an old item, containing signs which they assume are letters of ancient alphabet. It dates from 6000.-7000. BC and if so it presents the oldest written text found so far. It is a dish used for sacrifice ceremony. Foreign experts analyses are wait to be seen...

The item has been found in "Vlasac", place located nearby much more famous and wideknown Archeological locality, "Lepenski vir".

Wow Darko...that's certainly very interesting...Just makes you wonder what else is just waiting to be discovered...of course the sad thing is that so many of these things are destroyed through out the ages.....still, it'll be great to see the results of the experts opinions.

Yes, thay are destroyed.... [:(]

And many of them very recently. When back in `70s the hydroplant was built, the artificial lake has sunk the most part of sites waited to be explored.... Just before that archeologists had rushed to save everything thay could from the "Lepenski vir" (and other places). The Plate posted there by the Roman emperor Trian had to be elevated several dozen feets and now it is accessable only by boat.

But we need electricity, that`s for sure   [8]
