Dear Wise Sages Of Medical Love & Guidance !
Please help ..
I was down on my knees a few weeks ago servicing a client !! (get your heads out of the gutter...they had just moved house and had no chairs so it was floor board fun !)
Anyway, ever since............... ..my left knee has been ' twanging '...I thought it was just sore from applying my weight on it as I leaned over and assumed it would go away...but it hasn't !!..If I bend my leg ..it feels as if it is being put under pressure...could it be a ligament thing ?..a tendon thing ?.........I can't tell if there is any swelling....
I have bought an elasticated knee bandage which I am wearing but do you think I may have to pay a visit to my GP ?...it's been like this for a while now and is more of a horrible throbbing ache than a shrilling piercing pain !!...could I have damaged the knee cap/patella ?
THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE !!
-
OOUCH, so sorry about that knee! You really should have it cheked, Could you have dislocated your knee cap per chance. When you put the weight on it when you were on the floor, did you kind of roll forward motion? I had a friend that did something similar, but it ached like crazy , and got worse over time the ache, never sharp pain like you say, But he ended up with a dislocated knee cap, something like that, It wasn't broken, just somehow out of wack! The doctor fixed it and the ache went away. He said it was sore for a few days after the docs fix!Hope you recover fully.. can't have you having bad knee problems, that would be the pits!

THANK YOU KAREN MAM,
I doubt very much I have dislocated it...I think I would definitely know about it !!....but YES, I did roll forward and back on it.
*le sigh* Perhaps I just bruised it inside...I hope that's all it is ! [:(]
-
Get to the doc Neilsy...why suffer?
-
Is the knee swollen Neil? Does it "lock" in position at any time?

Possibly infrapatellar bursitis, a.k.a. "housemaid's knee".
http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/b/bursitis/intro.htm
-
THANK YOU ALL for your replies....
Chris..as far as I can tell it is NOT swollen (but it might be..perhaps a little).. and NO..it does NOT lock in position....which I gather is a damn good thing !!
It just feels tight when I bend my knee and the pain increases slightly...like I would imagine a stretched tendon to feel !! The good thing is that it is NOT excruciating...as I said..it's more of a dull ache which twinges every once in a while !!
..Oh..I tell you what ..I'll upload a piccy..
WARNING...picture of my KNEES !!

LOL....My knees !!! HA HA HA !!

Could you have bruised the bone?

Could you have bruised the bone?
That's certainly a possibility.....
If everyone could just lean forward and kiss it better I'd appreciate it !! [:)] [:)]
Me promises to not post other appendages for kissing requests !! [:)]

HEY NEIL< Your knee cap is swollen, take a look at your posted picture, approximately one inch above your yellow arrow! you see how your knee moves out there. check the other side of your right knee, it has no swelling there.. You can see where you had it wrapped, and there is still swelling. Wrapping an injury, usually reduces swelling so I would assume you should see the doc.. as there is definite swelling there, slightly higher then your arrow! check it out!! Then look at the other knee in the picture. It will be easer for you to tell with the picture then looking down at them!
All kissed better, now go to the Doctor!! LOL He'll fix you up and then you will at least know weather there is a real problem, or something that will heal on it's own!
-
THANK YOU KAREN MAM,
Me don't wanna go to doctor..me just don't wanna go...no no no no....*stamps feet falls to floor has tantrum kicks out and punches air and wails and sobs like the petty girly that he is*
*le sigh*....but me not want to go !!
I've brought myself a knee supporting elasticated bandage thingy and will try that for a while...perhaps it will help reduce the inflammation....
I don't think my knee is broke !!...
Thanks for the healing kiss
Hugs
-
Your welcome.. I don't think its broke either, but you certainly could have pulled a musle, but I think its probably a tendon.. they can make you feel that tight feeling.. I can see you were using your support wrap on your knee, I bet it has kept the swelling down some, but I am assuming if you leave it off, you will notice much more swelling then we can see in the picture as like I said and you just mentioned, the wrap will maybe reduce swelling.. I know a great deal reguarding swelling I am the QUEEN OF SWOLLEN ANKLES LATELY... REMEMBER.. KEEPING A WRAP ON THE AREA IS DEFINITELY GOOD... YOU PLAYED SPORTS AND KNOW THAT FOR SURE.. I AM SURE YOU HAD YOUR SHARE OF INJURIES.. HAD YOU EVER INJURED THAT KNEE WHILE INVOLVED IN SPORTS.. pERHAPS YOU REINJURED IT OR AGGITATED SOMETHING OLD.... AND I DON'T MEAN YOU...Lol So sorry, I must have hit the caps again... oh well!
hugs back, go to the Doctor Neil!

Hi neilep,
Ok dear friendo, if you wanna play telephone diagnosis and therapy
you must consider that it is probably the first cause of death in the whole Planet.

Go to Point 1:
I. Patellofemoral pain syndrome (chondrosis, chondromalacia patella CMP1)
1. Most common PFJ problem and most common cause of knee pain, overall
C. History
1. Anterior knee pain with activity.
2. Climbing, kneeling, bending, sitting.
3. Catching, grinding, giving way.
4. Pain with prolonged sitting and getting out of a seated position "movie sign"
Treatment
1. Relieve pain: rest, or activity modification, NSAIDs, patellar sleeve or taping, corticosteroid injury, for DJD.
2. Restore strength: exercise program, PT, 3-6 months.
3. Gradual return to sports.
Natural history
1. >70% improve with rehabilitation alone
2. Life time commitment
3. Most have good days and bad days
Now I must confess that I badly hurt my left knee in Jan2003 falling sideways off my bicycle (auch!!!) on an icy yard like a stupid...I never knew what had happened to my joint (please no docs: save NHS resources for sick children! I am crazy) but it was hurting quite a lot!
Walked again in a few days, slowly for 2 months (enjoyed bus-rides), complete recover in approx. 1 year.
But you shouldn't do that...at least don't blame me afterall!
Ciao [;)]

Hi Kneelep,
have you considered that your endomorphic physique may be the cause of your knee problem,

Hi neilep,
...Wounded Knee was a tragic event:
http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~rhernand/Wounded%20Knee.htm
1890-
The Massacre of Wounded Knee
December 15
The Military was arresting the leaders of Indian nations and leaders of the Ghost Dance movement by 1890. Sitting Bull was killed while soldiers attempted to arrest him on the Standing Rock reservation. Many of Sitting Bull's people fled the reservation to Big Foot's Miniconjou Sioux village.
December 23
Big Foot and 350 of his people fled the village and headed to the Pine Ridged Agency. The trek was in the middle of winter and would take a week and a half to walk. They were headed for the protection of Chief Red Cloud.
December 28
The7th Calvary, under the leadership of General Miles, cornered the fleeing band on the banks of Wounded Knee Creek (Cankpe Opi). The Sioux were ordered to discard their weapons. They stood on the banks through the night and were told they were going to be taken to a camp. Some of the Sioux began performing the Ghost Dance. It was at that time that firing broke out. The first shot is still disputed. The fight that ensued was between 350 unarmed Sioux and 500 heavily armed soldiers. The casualties are also disputed, but it is believed that 300 Sioux men, women, and children were killed, along with 29 U.S. soldiers.
20 medals of honor were awarded by Congress to the soldiers of the 7th Calvary

people have one sided views too much. I'm all for country loyalty and such, but I would never do that kind of thing if ordered to.

So Sad!

OOOH I never thought about Arthritis!!
-
Hi neilep,
you'd just been unfortunately diagnosed as a bursitic-arthritic-banged-awfully-smashed-knee patient.
We scheduled you for a bilateral double knee transplant (they go in pairs).
We'll give you some stem cells in the process...they are always good for you.
Surprisingly enough, the cheapest bargain offer is in
Wonderland County Hospital for Sick Knees (Nowhere Land).
We'll fly you there by Brian Unfair Airlines for little money (just ambulance Taxes).
No food or drinks included. Bring your own wine and anesthetics.
Please let us know your opinion and credit card number.
...
Wish you a slow but constant self healing in the meantime!
Do not forget physiotherapy or some wise exercise anyway.
Take care (https://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autonomed.co.uk%2Fshop%2Fdept_icons%2FBasic%2520Knee.jpg&hash=2514636b5a29cf3d3d03eaffcaf3b433)
