Title: Loose Tooth
Post by: Carolyn on 27/01/2007 17:38:15
Does anyone know if anything can be done to 'tighten' up a loose tooth.  My son took a hit in the mouth - his front tooth is quite loose and there isn't a dentist in town that's open until Monday.  Is there anything that can be done?

Caroline, My son did the same some years ago.. It was still attached, The dentist at the time told us to be careful chewing there and it would tighten back up.. I suppose it might depend on the severity of the movement, but am not sure. Johns was really floppy and he was quite small. It tightened  up just fine .. It took several weeks but he never lost it and it did tighten up. It was difficult to chew because it was his front tooth, the ones you bite things off with..

Thanks Karen.  Between both lips being busted and swollen and his tooth being on the verge of falling out, I don't think he's going to be chewing anything for at least the next week.

Yes - he got in a pretty bad one.  Both boys are in a great deal of pain today.

I don't thinks so...  I'm not sure what boy you're talking about.  He's really only had problems with 2 boys in school.  He hasn't been in a scuffle in a long time - and NEVER one this bad.  Both boys were in pretty bad shape last night.

I am sorry.. I hope everything works out for them and they are able to resolve this issue.. so sorry..

I remember you said he was having some trouble with a boy from a team he was on.. I thought that may have been the same boy..

Thanks Karen - I remember now... No he's getting along well with the boy from the team.  I don't know what's in these boys heads.  These are the 3 biggest boys in school.  They're only 13, but each one is the size of a full grown man, a large, muscle bound full grown man. These two are darn lucky they didn't end up hospitalized and/or arrested.

I am glad for that.. Did you find a dentist to take a look.. Even Emergency room could help..with a tooth.. That's where we went first..I do know that if the tooth fell out you put it in a glass of milk and get to a dentist.. I don't understand the milk part but thats what we were told to do if a child has a tooth knocked out.. apparently it can be set back into the socket and it helps do something in the process os saving the tooth!

No, we haven't found a dentist.  The emergency room in our town is really a 'band aid' station.  There isn't a whole lot they can do there.  They can't even set a broken bone.  The nearest real ER is an hour and a half away.

Hi Carolyn!  I heard that if a person has a loose tooth from an accident that he can drink milk...I know it sounds strange, but heard it works!  I don't know from experience...but have heard people attest to it being true.

Thanks guys.  I have him drinking lots of milk.  Tooth is actually looking better.  It's tightening back up and it's almost even with the other tooth now.  Lips still look really bad though.

Carolyn, I just thought of something that might help him...you can buy an organic, drinkable aloe juice...now it is not the greatest nor the colour...green..but mix it in something not so acidic and it could help him with inside his mouth!

I am trying to think about a combo fruit juice with less acidity...pretty tough...apple..that may do the trick and not taste so bad...pommegrate is a bit of an adjustment to the taste...so I think apple would be better than pommegrate..glad to hear about the tooth is stronger....I think a friend of mine who is a Dentist told me about it...I was thinking of something to do once that tooth is stablized in a couple of weeks...remember the veggies and fruits posted over in activity4life I posted....If I remember right, I heard if you have him eat the veggies and fruits with super duper vitamin d....like broccoli...it should strengthen it more...I will think of others as I still have to add Cherries and wish I would have added Asparagus as I thought about it's healthy results from eating it today...aagghh..now, I am out of chronological order with my memory...drats, the A is out of sequence....wasn't there a veggie to aid in memory?  hehe  I should've had some as it would've helped me now!
