Title: How many people answered "annoyed "?
Post by: Eric A. Taylor on 18/11/2010 05:13:37
I was listening to the podcast and the story about happiness caught me attention. They said that the they called cell phones several times a day to see how people were feeling. I don't know about you but if someone called 6 or seven times a day to ask "Hey, how 'ya feelin'?" would lead me quickly respond with "annoyed". especially if I were busy with work.

I agree. Even more annoying is having to listen to others having these conversations in public places. Sound pollution!

I like to walk around shopping malls with phone at my ear talking as loud as possible so that people understand what an important person I am. I just wish there was someone on the other end of the line.

OK, here's the plan.

I'll ring you, Geezer, then we can both look important & have someone on the other end of the line. Just one snag, that will cost.

I wont ring you & you don't ring me either, we just hold our phone's to our ear at the same time and talk, that way we look and sound important, DO have someone on the other end of the line, but, and here's the smart bit, it wont cost a penny!!!

Some times my brilliance astounds even myself.

It's not the same now the phones are so small. You could look really impressive with the old "brick" at your ear. You could even have a smart leather holster on your belt to keep it in on rare occasions when not in use.

It was actually an app that gathered the data, so no physical conversation required; that said, others with whom I have spoken agree with you Eric - they said the thing got pretty aggravating pretty quickly!

Is this the phenomena of "to much of something is overwhelming?"

Stand in a crowd in the Mall, Hold the cell to your ear, face a store and read the store name and recite the time in that will be in two minutes, out loud and yell SELL it all, you’re my broker or look for a new client!

Turn and face on the store opposite side and do the same, except yell BUY!

Do this, dressed like a bum in the morning, repeat it being sharply dressed after lunch...

With respect to Geezers statement, to emphasize your presents of importantance in a mall while being on the cell phone. Does this make it better understanding as a reference pointer?

I like to walk around shopping malls with phone at my ear talking as loud as possible so that people understand what an important person I am. I just wish there was someone on the other end of the line.

How about nodding to oneself, loudly exclaiming in public. "Yes I'm right, again, why can't I ever be wrong?" Like once every odd minute?
Would that work, I mean I think it works, won't it?

It works for me?
I think?

Cell phone conversations in public don't bother me unless the conversation is private (ie phone sex) I once heard a woman talking about the things she was going to do with her husband or boyfriend (or maybe her girlfriend) that night. a lot of school kids were on the train. I just asked her nicely to keep it clean for the kids. She looked really embarrassed. I think she forgot she was in a public place.

Give me your number. I'll call you and have extremely loud arguments with you about how words like "color" are spelled. I live in the GMT +8 time zone. Where are you?

When I was working in Yellowstone my job was fixing problems with guest rooms at night. I had a radio so the three hotels I covered (and others) could reach me. Once, just as I walked up to the Old Faithful Inn front desk to check if they had anything for me the woman walked up to her radio, keyed it then said, over the radio "Inn front desk to maintenance"

I responded in the normal way but without my radio "Maintenance go ahead"

She didn't realize my voice was coming from behind her, not from the speaker, so she keyed the radio again and asked me to come to the desk. I told her I was there and to turn around and finally realized I was there. It must have been odd for the others hearing one side of the conversation. My boss called me on the radio a few minutes later, wondering why I wasn't responding to the call.

I'm in GMT -8. You must be in China or Australia. That's a long way from Yellowstone.
