Hey. I got a quick question, when i plug my ipod in to the computer, and connect it to the USB, it does not sync automatically with Itunes..My computer doesnt realise it is connected, and i have no option to sync or anything. Any suggestions? Thanks
-
It's been a long time since I synched an IPOD but could it be that somehow the 'automatically synch when ipod is connected' option has been unticked or something ?
Oh hang on !!...you say you don;t even have the option !!...so what you are saying is that your computer doesn't even recognize that the ipod is connected !.....hmmmmmmmm...have you tried another computer ?.......has the ipod been reset ?
I'm sorry I can't be of any help.....but I didn't want you to think you were being ignored !!..I am sure some better advice will be along soon !!
-
is it charging?
-
Could it be a faulty lead ?
-
It is charging yes.
I put my brothers ipod in to the computer, using the same lead. It worked. Ive tried to reset my ipod, but the tracks just wont wipe off?
-
Stana, some of the new ones are like my sons You have to put the software on fist that comes with it. Then shut your computer down then plug in your new ipod then reboot your computer with the ipod attached.. it should then recognize the new hardware at the bottom of your screen!
-
thanks karen ill give that a try now
-
Sometimes you have to open your software and find the menu in your ipod software and there should be a sync tab or listing in a drop down menu.
-
Your welcome! I hope it works!
-
Please let us know how ewe get on !!
We can't have one of our own with no working IPOD at Christmas !!
-
Sorry Karen, the shut down, plug in, reboot method didnt work. What ive decided to do is to remove itunes, and redownload it. I will keep you posted if it works or not [:P]
-
Oh I am sorry that method did not work! Yes Please let us know!
-

Is the ipod dead ?...does it work at all ?
-
It plays music fine.
I can work all the function on it fine.
It charges up on my computer.
But it will not sync.
And my computer will not recognise it has been put in.
Yet my brothers ipod worked fine on it! [:-\]

Have you tried going to Apple support? When my daughter was having problems with her ipod she called Apple Support and they walked her through it and got her up and running in no time.

-
BTW, ipods dont work too well once they have been through the washing machine a couple of times...a little knowledge i have...

I have had no trouble with syncing my ipod before. Nothing has hapened (that i remember) that would of changed the syncing operation..I have just installed itunes on my computer downstairs, and tried to conect it. But the computer downstairs still didnt recognise it..Its not the lead, because it works for my brothers Ipod, Do you think its MY ipod?
-
I hate to say this but as a process of elimination it does seem to point to your ipod I'm afraid !....how old is it ?...do you still have a guarantee with it ?...has it received a knock at all ?
-
I got it last year..I think it was a 1 or 3 year garuntee..ill have to check..and no i havent dropped or knocked it

There are Ipod forums too.
I found one useful when my sons Ipod developed a fault: ie: he sat on it and smashed the screen..
I strongly recommend you trying http://forums.ipodlounge.com/
