FINISHED FILES ARE
THE RESULT OF YEARS OF
SCIENTIFIC STUDY COMBINED
WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS
Most Native English speakers see 3....others see 6..

In the phrase I see 3 F's, in your entire post I see 6.
Regarding the why......I see that many cos that's how many there are. [;D]
Hmmmmmm......did I miss any?
-
I only saw two the first time through
But I guess most native speakers skip over 'of' and miss the 'f's there.
-
yeah I also missed the "of"'s too
-
I see 6 in the phrase and 2 more at the start of the post ..... I have also had this shown to me before..... interesting eh?
-
I see 8..... count 'em!
-
Well if you guys wanna be that way I see a total of 10 within his post and title ha
-
LOL..YOU ALL KNOW I mean the phrase in CAPITALS !!
arrrrrrrrrgghhhhhhhhhhh !!!
I would like to know why native english speakers miss the 'f's in 'Of' though !!...though clearly non-native english speakers are for more into the detail of the language and would not miss them......
-
Is it not just because we are looking for the 'eff' sound at the beginning of a word or syllable. The 'f' in "of" is a 'v' sound.
Wadya fink?
-
very true..didnt think of that
-
I can't see 8. Show me. You could put the effs in capitals.

That leads to the paradox that arguably the 'F' in 'of' is the only true old English word with 'F', the others having been imported from romance languages (and, ofcourse, the Germans do pronounce their 'f's as a 'v' sound).
