He and his team discoverd the third allotrope of carbon - buckminster fullerene (not sure about the spelling). I think he travels around the world to give lectures about fullerene science and nanotech, has anybody been to one of his lectures?
I actually met him once and he gave me a signed postcard with a picture of buckminster fullerene [:D]!!
