Title: Am I tickling, irratating, or pleasuring my dog?
Post by: Karen W. on 25/05/2008 07:23:48
When I scatch or pet my dog in certain areas of his chest and on his left side lower rib area.. he lays back and kicks his leg franticly... I assuned it either felt good or he was ticklish....

Then it occured to me that perhaps he wasn't liking it.....?

Surely you have  all seen dog do this..! Yes?

How do we know if it is pleasurable or not?

Is it?

If the dog didn't like it, it would try to get away.

All three would involve different hand actions, which are you doing?

I agree because when I stroke my cats all the way down their backs
then their legs go high in the air because it is a sexy thing
The vet told me that one.

LOL.. LOL.. Hee hee hee.. Well Lets see I can pat him on his rib, or set my hand upon him and scratch with the fingers in and out,in a shooing manner.. Like shoo fly shoo.. LOL or I can simply scratch his  leg area on the bone (of his shin Paul) LOL.. And his hind leg goes crazy and he usually raises his head, ( on his shoulders) LOL and squints his eyes at me as if he were crying, or it could be pleasure since pleasure can sometimes bring one to tears...... I was not at all sure weather it just tickled so bad that it made him tear up..... LOL LOL..  I think I will very carefully avoid any other hand action! LOL! Your such a naughty boy! [;)]

So are you Doc!!

I was once told it's because you are rubbing on the nerve that makes the leg kick.

That makes sense I might kick to if someone was rubbing a nerve! Thank you Miranda!

Welcome to the forum!! Enjoy!

I think you will find your dog is enjoying it, but if your hand gets bitten off, perhaps I could be wrong.
