Lizzie asked the Naked Scientists:
I read in the new scientist that women have a different pain system then men.
Would this explain why women often experience different symptoms then men when it comes to heart attacks?
What do you think?

I have heard that often and have done lots of reading and some women do not describe it like a crushing heaviness in their chest, but pain in other areas, arm, ears, shoulder blades,Radiating pain in Jaw,
I think they do and I think at times it is more individual then gender related...etc...But many times pain a women can tolerate a man cannot.. but I have also seen it go both ways with just general pain and non specific Heart attack like pain descriptions!
