Jim Kelley asked the Naked Scientists:
Hello!
I've recently discovered your podcast (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/podcasts/) and have enjoyed it immensely. I have a question for you regarding something I saw happen recently in my freezer. I filled an ice tray with water and put it in the freezer, a few hours later I went to get some ice out of another ice tray and saw that the ice tray I filled earlier had one cube with a 'spike' of ice growing out of it kind of like a stalagmite. What could've caused this?
thanks!
Jim
What do you think?
