Here too! been raining icy snow wind.. downright nasty inclement weather! LOL... Nice for Christmas though.. if it would snow some more and less sleet and rain then a white Christmas is truly rare here and would be so lovely!

Were not "dreaming of a white Christmas" in the UK as the cost of heating has doubled in the last year.
The undertakers will be very busy this winter, and their customers will be stiffer than usual because of hypothermia.

That is certainly a sad point of harsh winters and the economy.

The snow missed us this week. It fell west of here and in Houston (First one) on the 10th and in New Orleans on the 11th. The street car is one that runs in the old quarter down St. Charles Street. (RE: Tennessee Williams "A Streetcar Named Desire")

Yes, very unusual.  It happens here, but not often.  My friend called me a few days ago from Pensacola and said it was snowing.  She and her kids are from Miami and had never seen snow before so they were very excited.

The stiffs might be stiffer and they might smell better too, but since they are not in a positon to pay I don't think they are generally customers.

It has become totally unacceptable. I know quite a few people on low income who won't be able to afford to heat their homes properly this winter. Our heating bill is running at about £30 per week at the moment and it's not even that cold yet.

People do pay for their funeral in advance, (sometimes via an assurance policy),
so despite having "kicked the bucket" they are still footing the bill.

In November my gas supplier increased my direct debit by 3.25x  [:0]

The undertaker should give them a discount because of the shorter coffin & grave.   [:)]

My gas supplier did that, until I sent them an email reminding them just how many suppliers there are out there, and how easy it would be for me to switch to another one.

I'll just remind you that it hardly ever snows in Florida. And Al Gore is still a jerk......................

I'll just remind you that it hardly ever snows in Florida. And Al Gore is still a jerk......................

Then I'll just remind you that there have been recorded and reported observations of snowfall, in Florida, since 1774. In fact, there has been recorded snowfall in five of the last eight years.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with global warming, it has not been attributed to global warming, and is not caused by global warming. Al Gore may or may not be a jerk, but he has nothing to do with this subject.

Fine, but I would appreciate your vague insinuation about who may or may not be a jerk at this venue, kept to yourself...................Ethos

Hold on! You were the one that stated Al Gore was a jerk...because it happened to snow in Florida!!! I simply pointed out that this is not new, and pointed out that this is nothing to do with global warming. I then stated that "Al Gore may or may not be a jerk, but he has nothing to do with this subject", because it or he has nothing to do with this topic.

what's wrong with that?

A lot of people confuse the local weather extremes with climate.

In local weather you can have flukes like snow in California or Italy, that does not automatically mean that climate change is not happening. Looking at the statistics of several years for an area gives you an idea about the climate and how it's changing over time. Some areas will get hotter, drier, colder or wetter. So global warming or cooling is missleading, climate change is more exact for what is happening to our worlds climate at the moment.
The climate change as such isn't debated, whether it's man made or not is.

Even if Al Gore is a jerk, it doesn't make him wrong. It is an ad hominem attack and is as such fallacious.

Can you believe Lubbock Texas had two feet of hail last night!

Snow plows needed to clear hail in Texas Panhandle

Associated Press - April 17, 2009 5:45 PM ET

"It's a cleanup day across parts of West Texas and the Panhandle after strong storms moved through the region.

"No injuries were reported.

"Meanwhile:

"The National Weather Service says parts of Southeast Texas faced the threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms today.

"Oncor Electric Delivery reports about 25,000 customers without power today in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Spokeswoman Carol Peters says mainly wind and lightning caused the downed power lines and outages.

"Passengers on flights to and from major airports in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston areas experienced delays during the worst of the storms.

"Early today one twister touched down briefly north of Kress, about 60 miles south of Amarillo. Another touched down just east of Lubbock, in Crosby County.

"Two others came down a few hours later near Lake Thomas in Scurry County, about 100 miles southeast of Lubbock."
