As some of you know I have an avid interest in autism. I came across this article whilst wombling around the web and it has to be the best interview with a savant that I've ever seen or heard.
Please read it and I think you too will be fascinated.

Fascinating reading: thank you so much Doc!

This is just brilliant. Murray has some traits like this when it comes to numbers.
Did you ever see the documentary about the woman who said her mind worked like she was cattle. She was autistic and felt she had the same flight reflex to changes in air pressure and light. She work as a slaughter house designer.

No, Sharon, I haven't seen it. Savants fascinate me. That's why I was so interested in that article.
By the way, I'm writing a series of articles for another site about ASD in order to, among other objectives, dispel the Rainman myth. If anyone is interested in reading them I shall post the URL on TNS when they're published.

There was a documentary about the man on TV a few years back. Very facinating indeed!

I saw a documentary about Kevin Peet, but he is not as articulate as the chap in that article.

I think the animal welfare woman is called something like Temple Grandin.. DB, if you haven't encountered her work before you should look her up.

Thanks Rosy, I know she does lots of lecture tours but couldn't remember her name. She was very good at putting across how she views the world.

Ah, that name rings a bell. Thank you.
